How bad will it be? 10% reduction on insurance side? Will the severance package that is subject to change be chopped up?!

If it goes through, expect 35-50% RIF
I just read of talks of a merger with Aetna/cigna
So I guess I will only have like 6 weeks to get another job! That’s awful (severance will be 6 weeks after 3 years I suppose)
Severance isn’t a lump sum payment even for early retirement. It happens over the same pay periods you would have had if you’d stayed on the job.
If you take early retirement is the severance pay a lump sum or over the amount of weeks you are paid ?
It is a business decision and they have NEVER cared about employees.Just care about stockholders. All large companies are like that. Happy to have a decent severance package.
Below poster….if not enough chose to retire, it goes to more being RIFd, which goes into protected groups, so it may impact those 35-45 years old? How is that insanity, if they’re following laws and are offering retirement that people may not want to take? Personally, I think it comes down to unemployment…you take retirement, you don’t have that option, which you do if you’re RIFd. It has a bit more financial edge that way. Do you fault someone or a system that bends that way?
Insanity is the only word I can think of. One area is losing provider disputes with the hopes that those nurse positions will be replacing retirees. The problem is that no one knows of any retiring. So what happens? They can’t lay off everyone 55 or older as that is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen on discrimination. Somebody making these decisions does not understand this does not enhance Humana’s reputation. The power brokers need to rethink. They are dealing with human beings.
It’s as if Humana is slimming down to make itself attractive to be sold/acquired?
Hang on it’s going to be a wild ride.
There probably won’t be any changes to the severance package. Percentages aren’t applicable at this time until the number that’s retiring is calculated. But, that being said, the number I’ve heard kicked around is 30% in total
