Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why aren't more people angry about this?

I know most people on this board agree WFC is a mess under Charlie, but other people I work with don't care. How? How can you not care about constant layoffs? How can you not care about being kept in the dark about what's going on? How can you not care that our benefits are getting worse and worse?
Everyone should be pi---d about how poorly WFC has been run since Charlie took over. How some are not is beyond me.

This thread is another stupid waste of space. There is nothing new about what OP is telling us... unless he is just trying to incite our anger for no reason.

I care but I don't waste time worrying about things I have no control over. I don't want to put in the effort to find a new job right now so I show up, do my job to the best of my ability and hope to continue to be employed. I like my work, I like my manager and my co-workers. I don't want to be displaced but if it happens, it happens. I can't stop it but I can do my best work in the meantime.

I'm not angry because my life is so much better since taking my layoff package and getting paid to not have to deal with the stress and nonsense every day anymore. They did me a favor.

I have a GREAT manager, but that's largely irrelevant in Sharts WF. He's running the company into the ground and your team isn't in a magical bubble, it's going to get S canned also. US domestic workers are all going to go, outside of execs and a tiny fragment of our current domestic workforce. Breaking news, you're not part of that remnant.

Many don’t care because they may experience WF differently than you for many reasons. Better manager, business not impacted, etc.

Like others have said, if you are not happy change your environment. No one is responsible for your happiness but you. Don’t look to Charlie, TK SVB or others because they frankly don’t care . They are not incentivized on a happiness level . So if you question why others are not as upset, ask yourself why aren’t you upset enough to do something about it.

Companies like Wells Fargo want American dollars, business, but offshore jobs, wtf, how’s that effing supporting the community. Taking away American jobs, earning American business and paying overseas salary. Companies like these are destroying America and American families. Esg my butt.

I think many (myself included) are just numb. Caring has gotten us nowhere. Extra any and everything has gotten us nowhere.

So here we are just comfortably numb and quietly waiting for severance or the next CEO or whatever.

I want to blame H1B and outsourcing for destroying our labor market, because company no longer need to be good to workers. Am I wrong?

Some of us recognize a d recognized a while ago the company was inefficient and bloated. 8 different groups with 8 different t systems to do the same thing? Why.

People complain about benefits, but mine here at Wells is better than all my friends in other private sectors.

Life doesn’t revolve around work.

We’ve ,over from a toxic culture towards customers (Harming them) to employees. Shart has traded one for the other, it’s mind boggling. I get the business need to control costs and layoff are part of that. But he has created a really toxic internal culture where everyone hates everyone and the company. No one cares. It’s ruthless.

I care about the people. Honestly - I couldn’t care less about the bank. Wells Fargo deserves to go down in a ball of flames.

But I do care about the employees being treated with fairness, transparency and respect. And I do care about customers being taken advantage of. And I do care that we have a group of conmen running the bank and getting wealthy off exploiting employees and customers.

I speak up at work. I have a few wins here and there, and enjoy making management’s life more difficult when they are heading in the wrong direction or trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

OP,
"I know most people on this board agree WFC is a mess under Charlie, but other people I work with don't care. How? How can you not care about constant layoffs? "

  • Because it is out of one's control that's why. When I went through a layoff 20 years ago I was told I was a essential employee. I was tasked to spin up my replacement, then had to re- apply for my job with new company who we outsourced to, then got let go. Your entire work life will be cyclical. Economy changes, outsourcing happens, downsizing, etc, and you will lose your job at some point. That's the deal.

"How can you not care about being kept in the dark about what's going on?"

  • Because they control the narrative. And for good reason, really. What? You want them to be completely honest of their strategy on how they are going to navigate? No company will ever do that and you will never have that level of transparency so get over it.

How can you not care that our benefits are getting worse and worse?

  • Who says that? I care and when it goes into the red, I will go in another direction.

"Everyone should be pi---d about how poorly WFC has been run since Charlie took over. How some are not is beyond me."

  • What is beyond you is the whining your doing about something that you have no control over. It doesn't matter who they install to change things up. The next guy or gal will do the same thing and you will be right back here whining about it. Best bet is to get out, or get severed and move on and put this job in your rear view.

As an individual there's nothing you can do. Caring or not caring as an individual makes no difference. Those people who come on here talking about a union have the only idea that makes any sense if you're going to care. They literally can't shut down all the branches and there are eventually going to be some jobs they can't just ship out. And if they can, they will union or no union.

Shart has created a major gap in number of employees that care anymore. Pre Shart, you had a large contingent of people who cared, put in effort, extra hours, performed well, etc.

All you had to do was pull up Skype late at night or weekends, you’d see people on busting their butts.

Now, especially with the downgrade bell curve of prior 4s to 3s/meets, people are fed up. No one is putting in more than they have to. No extra efforts. Importantly, no one cares like they used to. People used to care about this company pre Shart. Not anymore.

Ironically for as many bodies he’s chainsawed to save money, all that’s happened is they’ve lost major productivity efficiency because the output per employee is down so much - no one cares.

People don’t care and yet you blame Charlie? Maybe blame the people who don’t care for all that is supposedly wrong with Wells.

I don’t know…i think most people don’t care because it’s just a job, there are other jobs out there, other banks…and people have other things to care about like their lives outside of their jobs.

Got paycheck, Sun still shines, have family/riends, etc. Choosing to be happy. Writing has been on the wall for years. No worries about WFB since they're making a profit (unlike our government). Transparency? LMFAO. It's just a job folks.

WE dont care because WE are not going to let a company worry us in the wee morning hours about getting laid off... I been in the industry for a long time it happens. Once they get in your mind about layoffs your mental will deteriorate and after they lay you off, you will unemployed in a bad mental state.... Not a good place to be looking for a new job...

I haven’t met a person in person that doesn’t care about lay offs.

On these boards some of the people are trolls and psychos just trying to get a rise out of people. And yes, I think some are phoebe accounts with agendas.
