Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Huntington Bancshares

Welcome to the new BB&T. They have hired 30 plus truist employees including head of NC that just left Truist for Huntington. This is all in the last 60 days and they are focused on becoming a major player in NC. Anyone looking for a new opportunity that is similar to BB&T prior to Suntruist should reach out great bank with great leadership

Brandt was too much like his Suntrust counterparts but couldn’t overcome the fact he wasn’t one of them, nor an investment banker. Enter Huntington at your own risk. Standridge was born on third base and acts as if he hit a triple.

@1rab+1pBTXi07 - absolutely, positively, 100% spot on. Brandt from a skill and “moral perspective” is absolutely no better than SunTruist leadership, he just wasn’t in their boys club. He was championed by Kelly at BB&T, and pretty roundly disliked by everyone else. BB&T had some good managers and great people - Brandt ain’t either. My guess is Huntington will find that out soon enough.

SunTruist is still a regional bank. It has been managed so poorly that it has open itself to competitors poaching clients and employees. Wait until March and watch the parade out the door. Sadly only people that will be left will be inexperienced with nobody to teach the skills they need for success. It becomes a vicious cycle at that point, they get frustrated and leave, replaced by more inexperienced people with no one to train them.

Huntington will be amazing with all the great hBBT talent they’re getting. Thanks to all that great talent, BB&T managed to survive the storms, grow and prosper, and buy out a sh@t show like SunTrust. Now that BR truly has his crown and scepter, they will ruin that place and Huntington can buy it for a song. Thank God I dumped all my Truist stock.

I wouldn’t let the fear of working for a “regional bank” dissuade anyone from leaving Truist. Let’s face it, Trust executive management is working as hard and as fast as they can to turn Truist into a regional bank. As far as I can tell, it’s looking like the only thing they may actually achieve.

Who was the former head of IAM at Truist? I think I know him but forget his name.

They hired the former head of Truist IAM. Ask anyone in IT if they're eager to go work with that guy.

Huntingtons gonna eat up smaller banks in the coming years to save them. They will be fine.

A small regional like Huntington is the last place you would want to go. Look at financials, future state of banking, and landscape. They will be ripe for a merger and the circus will continue there. Stay put and ignore the nonsense. Things will play out. Shareholders and the board will demand it. If you disagree, get out of banking all together. Same issues everywhere in banking whether you want to admit or not.

Brant Standridge who was at one time thought to be a future CEO of BBT and was a member of EL at Truist is in executive leadership at Huntington. They have announced they intend to make a presence in the Carolinas. Brant poached the RP from the Dallas TX area and recently the NC Western RP after much fanfare over his appointment at SunTruist. (No one has officially been assigned to this role although SunTruist favorite J Kelly is in this role unofficially as a demotion). Standridge has no love for Suntrust leadership, saw the writing on the wall and bolted. He was to much like his Suntrust counterparts but couldn’t overcome the fact he wasn’t one of them, nor an investment banker. Enter Huntington at your own risk. Standridge was born on third base and acts as if he hit a triple.

Agree. Truist has fully pivoted from a regional or community banking focus. Go join the “new” BT&T at Huntington, Fifth/Thirds or others.
