OP and anyone else who got laid off, you may want to check your email? I got an email from Schwab for a Talent site exclusively for people laid off (that’s how it looks). It’s for roles during the notice period. So severance would probably be cancelled if you took one up.

If I get a job outside of Schwab after the notice period and before the severance period do I need to pay anything back to Schwab?

Please review page 10 of the agreement. It depends if you as subject to a revocation agreement.

Yes. If hired you lose your package based on the terms outlined.
