@3dc - hahaha that's a good one! 👍
There's an explosive in the laptop. Once your laid off, it self destructs taking you and the equipment with it.
A simple telegram delivered by stage coach. Um, your manager will reach out and let you know. - No that's Wells Fargo.
Legally they must give you 21 days to sign the severance agreement if you are over 40. If it's a group layoff, it is 45 days and they must provide you a list of job titles and ages of people subject to the layoff.
I heard we are acquiring Mike Tyson's fleet of carrier pigeons to deliver the rif message to all remote teammates affected.
A meeting will be set up by your manager; HR rep will be included in the meeting. Usually a relatively vague title, e.g. "2023 Performance Conversation." You will be given severance info and asked to sign (it used to be you had to sign within 48hrs, not sure now). Signature indicates you accept severance, which includes your payment -obviously- but also agreement to holding the company harmless (cant sue them after the fact) and non-disclosure agreement. You will be asked to return your equipment. They might ask you to drop it off, but you can request they send you shipping material to send it back via courier.
You get a 30 minute invite from your boss with a subject line of something like "touch base". And yes, he/she drops the hammer on you remotely.
