Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

All are being summoned to Sanjiv’s TH

All employees, remote & in person are being summoned to Sanjiv’s town hall on November 14. We went from no budget for team events to now everyone must travel to Plano for this town hall, no matter where you live. Do you think layoffs will be announced during town hall?

So, FS lays off a sh!t-ton of people this year, will not backfill the positions of those who are leaving the company in droves, and refuses to budge on reassessing the work commitments choosing instead to pile more and more responsibilities onto those who remain, but SOMEHOW there’s money to hold an offsite All Hands with catering, tshirts, and busses to get everyone to the venue? WTF??? Make it make sense! Such a bad look.

@ayo+1p8N7Jbl is right about home loans shutdown. Everyone was scrambling to find new roles when that happened. Took me several months, but I survived. I hope that's not what's happening next month.

FS (that’s Plano, right) is having EOY calibration, right?

If yes, I don’t think they would go through the effort and pain of calibration and then immediately lay off everyone (or even a major chunk) of the org.

They called everyone into Plano when they shut down Home Loans.

Play d-mb and call in sick. I'm assuming a large number of people are already in Texas who have to drive in. If not it's not smart of them to pay for travel and hotel just to layoff employees. This is an evil company whose main source of revenue is usury to exploit the poor. It should be shut down.

Auto layoffs will be announced before townhall, same as they were last year in early November

Never put anything past the senior leaders of this company. The invite to Plano could very well be to give you all a big hug and tell you that you will get a little severance and it was good knowing you. Maybe 'Crying Rich' will hop on a private just so he can be there to show you his tears while he kicks the door shut on you as you walk out.

Remembering California merger, they did exactly that. Invited everyone to a place and laid them off.

I think a competency should be the ability to deal with constant churn, fear of job loss. How the heck is somebody supposed to apply themselves to the job role they were hired for if this company continues to run their employee head count the way they have done for over 20 years? Disgraceful. I give all senior leadership a failing review. If only they were held to the standards of those of us who actually do something.

I can see Capital One calling everyone to Plano, laying off a sh-t load of people, and then turning off their credentials while everyone’s in Plano. If you’re on a zoom meeting, you still have access to all the systems.

Obviously layoffs would not be announced at such an event. They are not going to pay for travel and then do layoffs in person. They would do layoffs over a Zoom call.

Sanjiv is the president of Financial Services in Capital Obe. What does Wayfair have to do with it?
