Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Anyone know how they go about laying you off on Monday? Does hr need to be on a call or just both managers?

In my case, my manager cleared my schedule and informed me to be at a face to face meeting at 2 pm. He informed me that I had been selected for "retirement" at the ripe old age of 58.

There is no way to prepare or be proactive (other than finding another job) about being fired without cause but your instincts should instantly tell you that something bad is fixing to happen.

If it's Monday, then it's "Meet the Distress".

It's somewhat refreshing to see that HPE is still in the same struggles for success that it was in 2017. Sooner or later, this wicked witch will die along with it's BS.

Any person that actually believes that there are concrete protections at the federal level against discrimination needs to study all of the loopholes that the Republicans have added over the years.

When I got WFRd 2 years ago I received a sudden meeting request for 10am. When I spoke with my other co-workers they said no, they had a meeting for 10:!5am. Basically all of the people affected logged into a Teams meeting @ 10am and were told everyone on the call were terminated. That was it, no questions just be ready to receive the package info in Email. That was the best day of my life because I was ready to go and they were paying me to leave. I also needed the push!

Was laid off from HPE in 2020.

Your manager will suddenly put something on your calendar. No description of the meeting, nothing.

HR won't be on the call. Just you and your manager.

Manager says hello, asks how you are doing, anything to build rapport before dropping the bombshell.

You'll hear the words: unfortunately, cost reduction, restructuring, and elimination... probably all in the same sentence. They'll tell you your last day and what to expect in the near future, what resources will be available to you. They'll be able to answer most of your questions but they likely won't reveal who else has been affected.

I wouldn't bother asking them if they can help you find another position internally. Very rarely are people able to and/or want to find a job internally.

The good news is that the job market is actually very strong right now. I have a colleague who was laid off a couple of weeks ago and he has had probably five interviews so far.

Enjoy your 60 day pay and make sure you read your severance agreement carefully.

Your manager will call you and the man you get an official email notification. It’s a very cold process, lots of legal jargon that has to be read by the manager.

It's just a manger reading a script telling you that you can still be fired and not get any severance if you step out of line. They will release an email when they hang up with all the info.
