Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Layoff vs. firing - the WF trick

So WF has updated my teammates HR approved med accommodation status to No.
(Without informing).
Then forced him to return.
He didn’t return, they fired him for cause, and the paperwork shows something different.

  • out within days with no pay

Didn't happen this way. WF requests updated medical information to determine if an accommodation is still needed. Did you friend provide this? What did the doctor say about his condition? WF is stupid but they're not going to && around with ADA.

Until a person has a real physical problem or mental disorder, they have no concept of what it is like. Shame on you who discount peoples' accomodations with blanket statements.

There is a lot more to this story. Please post the whole story instead of what your friend told you

I hope all you villifying those w/paralyzing anxiety never have medical issues like that. Your lack of understanding and compassion are part of the reason so many hate working at this company.

I have severe anxiety disorder after brutal SA.

Scrèw all of you who think it's not a valid reason for MA. I'll sue WF to the hilt if they terminate me vs layoff.

Accommodations are reevaluated every six months. Sounds like they were denied and told to come in

nothing says the accomodations an employer makes have to be wfh, given the influx early in they probably defaulted to that, but may be looking into things a little more closely now. also, accomodations are only tied to your position number so if you change roles you have to reapply. like it or not more and more employers are doing away with wfh and I'd say in the next year or two even hybrid will go away. if you are told to be in the office and refuse your employer has every right to fire you. my guess is if this story is true the person probably got a couple warnings, it wasn't miss kne day then fired the next.

It was probably something stupid like ADHD or social anxiety.

FRTO today, FRTO tomorrow, and FRTO forever. It's a failed policy from hack executives that are stuck in the past, wasting billions for no reason. The worst part though, is the bootlicking traitors propping this stupidity up. Breaking news guys, they want to fire you, and eventually they will, unless you're in I&P.

In office is part of performance expectations depending on business group. If you have been told to be in the office like most of the company, you should do it

It is true. Like most situations, average employee is not comfortable and unable to litigate. As a result the firm mostly wins.
It is more common than you think.

And WF is happy to push the limit of legality till it gets fined.

I don't buy it. Unless the employee was a problem and they're just trying to get rid of them, this is a huge risk of law suit.

I call BS on this. I haven’t heard of being termed for RTO noncompliance yet. There has to be more to this story.
