Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Don't be weak

In life it is important not to be dependent on your job because these MoFos will never care about you. Always look out for yourself and don't be dependent upon your job. The key is to make more money than you need and that is it. It is simple. I have been with the bank for over 10 years and they can lay me off if they like and I will survive because I have money. Don't be a beeitch.

I have health issues and in my 50s so I need my job. UE in VA is around $380 a week minus 15% taxes = $1290 a month. COBRA is about $800 a month so basically UE covers COBRA and not much else. I have no clue how I will survive if I get laid off? Jobs in mortgage are scarce these days and its extremely difficult for recruiters/hiring managers to see our value in other fields. Lots of people I know live paycheck to paycheck. Hopefully Truist will find jobs for mortgage teammates who get laid off in the coming months.

I agree with you. I've been there 30 years. There have been good times and bad times. We are in the worst time I've ever experienced.

Am I the only one who agrees with OP? Obviously there are a lot of people with families and health issues who can't stop working. But for some people, it's possible. Even with a disability, I was able to save enough money so when they forced me out, I was ok. (Able to get early social security). Just need to be prepared to the best of your ability because things happen out of your control.

Here is an example of how overpaid people are in ET. Do a Google search on Release Train Engineers salaries then think about us paying people grade 113 salaries doing this type of job. Check the pay scale for a 113 and look at their bonus and LTI targets. It is totally ridiculous that we pay people in that role that type of money. Again are we Google or Facebook? I don't think believe we are. Speed to market ... Really? Where? Again I have been here over 10 years and hardly ever have seen any real speed to market.

Too many people at Truist especially in ET make money like this is Facebook or Google. They are over paid and should know how to save their money for a rainy day.

We are NOT a tech company like many people in ET would like to think. Save and invest all of the money you are being over paid and don't deserve.

Promote this man to management or minimum a corporate motivational speaker ….with vague and unrealistic goals like….become wealthy so it doesn’t matter. Next set of sound advice will be “just be born rich”

Work is for su-kers. You should be a leader, making vague goals like purpose. You can't be measured by it and can always say it's working better than planned.

Simple. Yeah. How about this Warren Buffett….circle back up with us when you actually get laid. Or have to take care of a family member. Or have severe medical issue.
