Details about PNC October 2023's layoffs

Here are the details about today's layoffs.

  • 10% laid off across all sectors
  • If you were invited to the meeting at around 11:30am with a lot other people, you are in the clear for now.
  • If you were invited to an earlier meeting or even 1on1 meeting, you probably have been laid off.
  • All laid off employees last day of work will be Dec 1st
  • Will we see another round? It depends on the how the market performs and if we go into recession, possibly.

Compass was a family.... BBVA Compass was a dysfunctional family.... PNC is an illegal cockfighting ring using a three ring circus as a front....

Being laid off is the best thing that could have happen to us!!! The decision was not made based on performance. I was let go and I am the most critical person in my team. My performance always was and still is outstanding. In no time, people are going to find a better job!

History repeats itself.

Smart and lucky employees survive. Average and unlucky die.

It is an illusion that a bank will take care of you.

Get real

I was one of those "displaced" on Tuesday. I have an elevated account so my vpn access was cut. Anyone with a SA id supposedly is going through a review. I don't understand why they don't just remove those SA IDs. I've been told my severance package came in my email and I can't even reach it. If I wanted to apply for the 23 jobs in technology (haha), I can't apply internally.

I experienced a significant reduction in my workforce, resulting in the loss of a considerable number of employees. Unfortunately, I was also among those who were let go. Approximately two months ago, senior management approached the managers and inquired about their recommendations for potential layoffs. Despite the pressure, I refused to sacrifice my employees by suggesting anyone for dismissal. This decision may have contributed to the impact on my own position. Despite my long tenure with the bank and consistently strong performance, it did not spare me from the consequences.

Multiple leadership changes in the last several years have changed PNC from a bank I loved to one I don’t even recognize.

The leadership team handled the situation (IMO) in a distasteful manner, leaving me with a sense of distrust towards any statements made by them. Their approach was so slick that it further exacerbated my uncertainty and skepticism.

It doesn’t seem like anyone knew the displacements were coming. I’d suggest very few knew about it and managers were not asked who to keep or let go. If they didn’t get the mangers input or the manager’s manger, then the criteria seems to be rather random and not based on performance. I’m just surprised that there weren’t rumors the last couple of weeks

For those that were displaced, did you have to sign anything to waive your rights to sue before being entitled to your severance?

Anyone remote customer service? Or are they specialized teams?

All layoffs just to profit the stakeholders and customers at our expense. I chose PNC due to their family/work-life balance. Now I will be sitting gainfully unemployed with no notice with 3 children. Thank you PNC. Choose wisely before applying to this company.

For anyone "displaced", did you have lines of credit with the bank? I don't mean 4%, 401k, hsa, benefits stuff, I mean do you have a PNC mortgage, auto loan, etc.?

This is as about as big as the last big round of layoffs that happened when PNC and National City Merged back in 2009

Got my notice, thankfully I’ve had a second job though I figured between the 2 PNC would be the more recession proof.

Does anyone have intel on what PNC’s severance packages look like?

How did you celebrate World Mental Health Day?

We celebrated by firing 10% of the staff, and making the other 90% miserable. Just our way of saying, "Here at PNC, you're just a number".

Layoff meetings happen today and will be happening tomorrow. I’ve heard 3% in some areas with as high as 10% or higher in others. I was one of the ones cut via a WebEx meeting. My manager found out I was part of the WRP at a meeting right before I was told, so there was nothing he could do. We were told that there would be an opportunity to be placed in a different role at PNC via InsideTrack, but that appears to not be true according to one CIO.

They are "a really big company". Don't believe me? Just ask them. That's the excuse every time something goes wrong.

Dinosaurs were really big too.
