Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Visited the old store

I had to see if the new system was a good move. Of course, I didn’t think it would be, but you never know, right? 1/4 of the books that should be on the shelf, missing stock of other stuff, frazzled- looking employees. It looks like the end of Follett.

I haven't talked to anyone that says they had a good rush or that sales were up. Most have the complaint of cancelled orders and not enough staff to keep up

I can confirm sales are NOT up across several regions

"If" sales are really up (and that comment was not just a smoke show from Ivory tower) think how much better sales could have been if you had a staff that knew what they were doing.

Yeah, really suspicious as to where this global knowledge is coming from.
James family sharing sales numbers with the investors to show how swell they're doing?

As long as the sales numbers are up, those in ivory tower will be convinced they made the right decision. They don't look at any of the potential damage to campus relations or anything else behind the numbers. They will only notice when they start losing the leases to those stores and the revenue is no longer being generated.

Nice response from an ivory tower watch dawg. Sales are up in units or dolllars? If dollars, looks at prices compared to last year. If units sold, I doubt it as access is troubling.

Well considering sales are solidly up over LY in most regions I think you're a little early to call time of death.
But there are lots of other issues that will have to be fixed ASAP.

I know of 1 that gave Follett their 90 day notice as soon as they had this plan in hand..so don't count every store out. I think you are right, most haven't planned to take the store back over so they haven't budgeted for it or saved to do so. Hope enough do drop lease to get the message across. Especially big stores with major sports programs.

Follett is doing what they're doing because the campuses don't care. Hiring career employees is expensive especially if you're starting from scratch. Once Follett is in that's it the campus has sold their souls to the highest bidder. Follett isn't going anywhere and the next guy is going to be worst than the last guy. I miss the family everyday 😫
