Schwab apps

Who really thinks STS has what it takes to build and maintain industry standard apps?

I work in STS and can confirm this is accurate.

@fcb+1omSimJn Not sure I'd be proud to say I worked at Wells Fargo or hold them up as an example of anything.

Working in tech for a company whose business is tech is quite different than finance. You won't find many (if any) tech companies saying they missed the boat with mobile in 2023.

A STS developer told me developers who want a legit tech work experience would NOT work at CS -- they work at CS because it's an easier ride. He also said the reward for good work at CS is more work.

As a member of STS- that has also worked for Wells Fargo, JPMC, Fidelity - OP has a room temperature IQ.

It's not believable IMO that CS thought mobile was a fad and as a result failed to invest in mobile technology. Sometimes I wonder if they bought TDA just to squash their innovative apps and education -- truly stifling competition to the consumer's disadvantage. TDA embraced empowered, in-the-minute decision making for investors while CS seemingly embraced inertia. Those are two incompatible strategies. Could it be Cs only wants users on desktop? Could it be that mobile is a threat because slowing down the trade process gives CS a millisecond advantage in spotting trends?

Schwab was a pioneer in online trading so the lack of mobile investment and prioritization appears illogical unless perhaps there is something else driving tech decisions. CS' web architecture looks super complex to an outsider with something like 25 sites. It seems like the same things keep breaking over and over. Timely market updates are being published but the system can't deliver the info consistently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The app needed for mobile trading breaks way too much and is slow to use per user reviews on app stores Plausible deniability?

Who has time to innovate? I have to devote most of my time to patching security vulnerabilities myself and wading through the constantly shifting sands of architecture (at a rate faster than small children go through bandaids).

Legacy apps with directionless tech directors.
