This leadership - can I even call them that? - makes no sense to me at all.

As a general rule in corporate America, yeah, that's usually the case. WF isn't in a normal situation though. CS is burning it down and when he decides that someone in India can do it cheaper or that he can shut down an entire hub, it's not going to matter that your boss is your best friend. Your manager won't even see it coming and will be fired as well.
Such us the domestic worker genocide at WF. There is no escaping Hudson Yards treachery, short of retiring, resigning, or dying, all 3 of which they are perfectly OK with.
When will some of you learn. It’s not about the hours you put in or the weekends worked. You will be laid off regardless of that. It’s about working smarter. Being a martyr never works out. Being a kiss up does . But people should work the hours they are paid to work. Do the work in their job description. Then you can find your balance and still have something to fight with when they lay you off.
It doesn’t matter what it says. You are the only person who is ever going to see it.
I was let go due to "Job Criticality".
For those who were let go due to hub strategy, what is in your memo under the eligibility factor?
Our department let go of some people but only one was worth keeping. The boss does his/her best to make it difficult to want to work for him/her. Those slackers he/she can pick out in a heartbeat and he/she has done a great job of making them quit.
Lol @ COSMIC team loss.
I’m not sure what’s worse, the ESL in this thread or the self pandering.
If the posters in this thread are indicative of actual “top performers” I can understand why they are being let go. Keep it classy chumps.
Wells Fargo promotes "quiet quitting"
We are still reeling from the loss of COSMIC team, not sure the bank will ever recover.
"If you think going in and completing your daily tasks makes you a top employee, then you are sadly mistaken."
Spoken by someone who obviously has never worked at WF. I've made a career by simply completing my daily tasks, which is actually quite the accomplishment around here to be honest. There are a lot of people at Wells Fargo who fail at that simple task.
" If you think going in and completing your daily tasks makes you a top employee, then you are sadly mistaken."
You're arguing falsely, and simultaneously being a jerk. No one is saying that. What they're saying is that going even waaaay above and beyond will almost certainly result in just a Meets, with no protection from layoffs.
Read the first comment at the bottom. There are many people like him/her with the rating of "exceeds expectations" got let go. One of the issues nowadays is most of the US jobs are being outsourced to the Indian counterparts simply because they are dirt cheap.
They don't value high performers! Never have, never will! It's all about AZZ kissing up, being the right skin color, being in the right geographic location. Just look at the Bank, and the BILLIONS in fines they've paid over decades of corruption and incompetence, if you think that was caused by high performing, competent people with high integrity, think again! Some of the BIGGEST MFING ID--TS I've ever worked with or for, were at Wells Fargo when I worked there! I was like how did this person get this role, they don't know their azz from a hole in the ground! Awful culture. I left and don't regret it one bit.
People in hubs are not safe either. I've seen & heard of tons of abuse & covert "throwing under the bus" of employees in hubs done by employees in non hubs to try and get the hub employees eliminated so that the non hub employees think they have job security.
High performance means nothing. Years of service and the knowledge that comes with that mean nothing. Apparently the most important qualification one can have is to live in the right place. So short sighted.
Same here. I worked very long hours every day, with some weekends and holidays, but I got let go one month ago. My manager said the job elimination had nothing to do with my performance, it just happened. Then he told me "thank you for your hard work, have a nice day". That's it.
My dear colleagues, do not work too had, do not try to go above and beyond, it's not worth it. The managers and executives don't care about you, they don't care about customers, they care only about themselves. Take care of your life, take care of your family first. Find a better opportunity elsewhere, Wells Fargo is going down because of the corrupt management.
They don’t care about high performers or how much you have contributed. How many weekends/holidays/nights that you worked on your own time. Calls and emails taken on PTO. They don’t care. We all look like fools. They are going to let us go with as little as posible, before our 401k matches and bonuses.
"none of this mattered because I was displaced in early August due to not being in a "hub" and they didn't even provide me the option to relocate or the option to drive an extra few miles to the nearest hub..."
Proof positive that the entire location strategy/hub thing is a pack of lies. It's nothing more than a convenient excuse. Once all the non hubbers are gone they'll start closing hubs. In a few years it'll probably just be Charlotte, Dallas, and Phoenix but even that will be a ruse. Eventually just NYC and Hyderabad.
Chainsaw is exterminating the domestic workforce. He sees us as vermin to be eliminated.
I agree. We're simply costs that need to be trimmed down on someone's spread sheet. Long term employees are probably more of a target due to higher pay.
The only way to survive here is to join one of the woke groups. Job performance is not important here.
For my entire 10+ years, I was "Exceeds Expectations" or "5" during that short span when it changed up, and up until the last couple of years when the new Exceeds became "Meets" because no way they can give anyone an "Exceeds."
Got my work completed and went above and beyond, however, none of this mattered because I was displaced in early August due to not being in a "hub" and they didn't even provide me the option to relocate or the option to drive an extra few miles to the nearest hub.
It's all about cutting pennies and eventually shipping some of these jobs overseas....
