I accepted this job because no one else wanted it, so I don’t have to do much to keep my $24.5 Million coming in every year. What are they going to do - replace me?? 😂.
In fact - I could run this company in to the ground and no one would say a word. Who’s going to stop me? The Board Members all have a sweet deal, themselves, so they’re not going to rock the boat. I surrounded myself with overpaid Yes-Men, so they’re all in my back pocket. The shareholders are happy as long as I keep chopping employees, selling business lines and generating quarterly profits. (Yes - this strategy is unsustainable, but I’ll be long gone before anyone figures it out.) The regulators seem to be happy with big promises and vague claims of complexities impeding progress. Most customers don’t know enough to question high fees and low results - so I think I could probably still squeeze more money out of them. The employees - they are a big drag on my profits. I keep trying to push them out, but they keep hanging on. I don’t understand much about banking, but I don’t need them.
The best part is that the bank was already up to its ears in legal issues, so I can get away with blaming everything on the prior CEOs for at least another 5 years. Oh something went wrong under my watch? “That was due to legacy issues 😉”. You would think being a CEO is a difficult job, but it is surprisingly easy. Everyone else does the work and I make 250 times more than them. It’s a sweet deal, and there’s no stopping me. Did I mention that I play the guitar?
