Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Schwab is all I know

Is it possible to ask to take a pay cut if I get picked for the lay off? I would take a 50% pay cut if it meant I could stay. I can’t find any other job postings in my area. I also see that there are still schwab job postings. Is this to pretend that we are financially stronger than we actually are? Sorta like fake ghost job posting?

When the tell you that your job has been eliminated they don't give you time to ask questions or discuss. They are told to be unemotional robots. There is NO negotiating - your job has been eliminated and that is the stance they take

I would not recommend it, it is just subjecting your self to unnecessary humiliation. Think of it as a bad break-up (we've all been there), it seems like the world is ending and things will never be the same or better. Than once you have accepted the outcome and chosen to move on you, only than do you realize how bad it really was. Any company that would continually subject their employees to the mental torture of waiving layoffs over their heads every year or two is not a company anyone should want to work for.

They wouldn’t offer you that option, so it’s best to be prepared and research remote options- there are dozens of sites that specialize in them, as a back up plan if your location is scarce on jobs.

Also, many of the job postings are for jobs getting reorged, they have to post those even though they know the person they are giving the role to and some are considered essential employee positions.

I don’t recommend this at all. Please know your worth and 50% of your current salary isn’t it! I couldn’t imagine taking less pay for all the work I do to continue to work for a company that is treating us like cr-p!

i dont recommend you do that, it wont change the outcome, you likely dont realize you're more valuable than you think.... there's always light at the end of the tunnel. just because you've been with the same company all your career doesn't mean you wont land on your feet elsewhere.
