Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

it's going to be different for everyone. WF is offering up the Career Connection Team to provide an overview of the career support and transition services available.
Maybe resume service will be helpful for some.....this type of hand holding just isn't for me.

I found the resources with LHH really helpful. I did the webinars for LinkedIn, resume creation, interviewing, networking. I got my resume reviewed in a small group, also had a great coach. Sorry others did not have the same experience.

I’m my opinion you are better off applying for jobs yourself. After getting laid off in March. Did the wells class on resume building and interview skills. Which were helpful to me. I just googled jobs in my field (Product management for you nosey ones who must know lol) and applied not on the job board but on the actual company career site. Sometimes job boards hold on to jobs already filled. I had an offer in 3 weeks. I’m now happily stressed out at a competing bank making around 20% more . My back up was to reach out to recruiting/staffing companies eg tek systems adecco etc and let them get me a contract job while I looked for full time work as I carry my families benefits. I’m in Charlotte by the way.

I had a great coach from Lee Hecht about 10 years ago. I think experiences vary.

I have been through a lay off, not with WF. I hate those follow ups with the company. I have nothing good to say except go out and get that next job and forget about the company that let you go, as they have forgotten about you. Today's world.

I had a similar experience with LHH. I felt like they were trying to push me into things and directions I didn’t want to go. They weren’t helpful especially my coach who had an ego problem. She was trying to get an executive job after losing hers. The resume review may have helped but there are plenty on the internet. I did nothing with LinkedIn and still get reviews. I dropped LHH before the time was up. They are just for show.

They will bug u to no end.

Right Mgmt has some incredibly skilled people who provide useful advice. The other firms are not that good from what you say. That is too bad.

I assumed it was a waste of time, and you confirmed that. I never used them, but they sure know how to harass the cr-p out of you to use their services. Ugh.

These are feel good services that really do not provide much value added. They help you with a resume but don’t expect them to find you a job.

Right Mgt is better than LHH, but which one you get depends on LOB.

I found the resume and LinkedIn profile review and comments helpful for me. The webinars don’t really tell me anything I don’t already know, but they help keep me on track as I begin my job search. I was not impressed with the WF severance overview call (that was rescheduled last minute). And the fact that the Q&A session ended up being held before the rescheduled severance overview call. Or the fact that they sent an incorrect document regarding the required Older Workers Protection Act disclosure, but I am not at all surprised that they messed it up. I expect nothing else from WF.
