I see many people are leaving these days, does that mean that the job market has improved? When I was looking to leave about six months ago I couldn't find anything that paid well enough for me to be willing to take that risk and quit. If things are better now, I might give it another try.

A lot of it depends on what roles you are qualified for and you ability to relocate. 'Real' remote roles are few and far between, there are a lot posted that the companies are not actually hiring for. As you found out, the other problem is that Micron total compensation is above most other opportunities in Boise so it is hard to transition out without taking a pay cut. One interesting point in your post is the "paid well enough for me to be willing to take that risk and quit". That is not a roadblock, don't quit until you have a job offer in hand.
