Thread regarding Follett layoffs

"Fired" Employee asked to work as a temp for $20 a hr

I am part of the 501 group that was let go due to reorganization. Imagine my surprise 3 weeks ago when my old store manager turned market leader reached out and asked if I would be interested in working for the next month as a temp at $20 an hour/25 hrs a week. I wouldn't have to run the register just clean up GM, set the planograms and merchandise the store and off-site store for football.

I already found a new job with the university making almost double what I was making at my store. F/U Follett!

To answer the last post made by the poster Curious I think the 501 group refers to the date May 1st.

Are you saying 501 were laid off? Does anyone how many were laid off, and how many were demoted?

I know a fired asm who did exactly that. Continued working for the same store as a temp for more money.

NxtThing is a joke! I am now gone, but the only thing NxtThing helped with was making my job more difficult. I had to recruit and send candidates to them to hire. Now they are paying temps more than the managers they demoted. Not to mention the additional being paid by Follett above the $20. For inexperienced people who may or may not show up. Way to go JRC. Happy Rush!

That is higher pay than they offered for campus store leader. Which is why I left.
I could make what they offered doing a brainless job with no stress. Good luck with what they left you with.

I am not surprised. There are some temps making more than seasoned Team Leads because they can't hire anyone.

Once upon a time I was a facilities manager. My duties included managing off-site storage facilities. The storage facilities were full of RENTED furniture.
Take away- You work for a terrible company when they'd pay to store the desk rented for you to use after they chose to lay you off! Worth less than rented furniture.
Follett in all its iterations is exactly that bad.

Wonder how the JRC investors are feeling? Happy with the James family??
Really bad decisions guy.
Tell your investors, just one more VP!
And keep posting on LinkedIn all the great things you are doing...

Great decision . The Follett position would migrate to the old job and you would eventually be fired. Why go thru the rush woes when you know what is down the road. Ivory Tower folks should work hard hit stores to really mess our minds. They may even see the chaos they created. I am still waiting for a CSL to train me
