How are they doing it? What’s the severance? May the odds be forever in your favor! Yikes
Literally no announcements yet :(
Anyone know if there are other rounds planned?
So sad. I know someone said pharmacy, but are there other departments that are part of this layoff ?
Individual so far
Are these layoff meetings individual or group?
Already started in Pharmacy
My manager just emailed our team to let us know that we are not being laid off but that layoffs/restructuring will impact who we work with.
What department do you work for?
It has started.
My manager just emailed our team to let us know that we are not being laid off but that layoffs/restructuring will impact who we work with.
Nothing going on with my team as well.
Nothing yet, thankfully.
Well tomorrow is the D day. We will know what happens. Let’s keep this thread alive.
I was part of management, Cordani - 3 levels down. I was laid off last Spring. Spring of 2022 to be clear. There were layoffs starting in Summer of 2021 and continued in waves including now. This is not mass layoffs per se and thats why no Warn notice. There are layoffs in many areas to fund new jobs and roles needed in others. There are automation programs reducing certain jobs. There are evaluations of work that can be prioritized and frankly what can just stop. They've lost a lot of business and new clients don't come on as fast as you lose them.
This is way bigger than the health plan, it's the pharma side, it's the other smaller subsidiaries. I doubt that the total number of employees is going down. I think it's reduce these and make due and then increase over there.
Yes, only managers and directors of people impacted have been informed. So if your manager doesn’t know anything about it then either your area is not impacted or it is and your manager can’t reveal it.
Is this really happening? I haven’t heard anything about this from my manager within evernorth digital yet.
They won’t call everyone into one meeting. It will be an individual meeting with your direct manager and HR partner. The day of the meeting would be your last day with you having a 30 day period where you get paid but don’t work. After the 30 days that’s your term date and your severance begins based on Cigna’s severance policy.
Will they call a meeting to do a mass layoff or will we be called individually? Are we done that same day or by the end of the year? Does anyone really know? This is really stressful….
So what was your process being laid off?
Google WARN Notice- you'll find out more info than someone explaining it to you here.
Can someone explain the WARN notice?
Thank you for the information about the WARN notices, it's very helpful and I'm sure it's useful to a lot of people. I was let go over the summer but not sure how many others were let go at the same time.
WARN notices are not applicable because they will keep you on payroll for 30 days before officially laying you off, however you will not be working during that period to prevent people from messing with data, systems, etc. Then you will get severance. Severance plan is on Iris for those who are curious
One thing that doesn't make sense is that with the number of people they have been letting go of in the last several months and continue to let go of as time goes on; they aren't on the WARN list, so clearly they're finding a way around that considering the number of employees being let go.
I checked my HR partners calendar for the 12th and they are fully blocked. Anyone else seeing that, too?
Managers had to take a training the last week of September with the elimination conversations having to take place by end of day 10/12. Supposedly the conversation will happen with your direct manager and HR. Rumor is Cigna plans to change up their agile model with Scrum Masters and Release Train Engineers being the hardest hit
For those who’ve seen recent layoffs, how are they doing it? And how do they do it when people are back in the office? Do they just tell us to leave the building immediately? What is the termination package like?
Is it fair to assume layoffs across Evernorth Behavioral will occur too?
Any word of layoffs happening this week in the NS&O area? If so, what types of positions and band levels will be impacted?
I work in Medicare and perhaps we were already part of the 1st wave, many colleagues I worked with suddenly let go the last few weeks. The remaining teams were restructured. We are all already working lean due to these recent job eliminations, I can't imagine them laying off even more people from my side of Medicare. Our leadership had a department townhall not that long ago where our leader acknowledge that we recently reduced staff, but that we have no plans to reduce even further. So IO guess it's deferent parts of Medicare on the chopping block.
Does anyone know for certain which departments are taking a hit ? I have heard nothing in D&AE.
What department or space do you work for on the MA side?
My manager was completely unavailable all last week which really makes me think she was being prepped for layoffs. I’m on the Medicare side and we have been slower than usual. They keep telling us we are being monitored so they can see how hard we work. In reality it’s obvious they are monitoring us to rank us for cuts. This week is going to be a sad one.
We keep hearing the 12th is the first round and extensive. I'm beyond nervous for everyone, especially my team. It really is starting to feel like we are are going to take a huge hit. Management is not denying the event is coming. You can feel the level of uncertainty to the point of it being eerie.
The pathetic thing is that the old timers that have spent their entire careers at ESI and Cigna are (allegedly) protecting each other. Some areas are already a mix of relatives and old relationships. Coincidentally none of those losers lose their jobs yet they elbow people out who disagree with them and don’t kiss their a$$ (allegedly). And then ELT wonders why things don’t improve. That place is a living nightmare. People who get promoted to leadership team roles are so incredibly under qualified. Yet we have to smile and nod when they speak. If they set the strategy and if the company isn’t performing, then why do they keep their jobs with $$$$$$ stock options. Literally why??? (all allegedly of course)
I listened to the Affordability Governance and Execution town hall replay last week. In the Q&A portion, someone asked about layoffs in 2024. The response was that there will be no mass layoffs in 2024 (no mention of 2023). But that targeted layoffs have been happening all year and will likely continue for the next few years. Areas of the business will downsize as others grow. They said that if you are worried you should bring value everyday. Like the average person has control to not be on the layoff list by bringing value. I'm sure that's saved so many people from layoffs. Just so toxic. And the person answering seemed to have little empathy for the worries at all.
A manager on my team confirmed that layoffs will happen and that our team will be impacted. Which is just so wild to me since we already lost 10 positions to attrition over the last 6 months. I guess that's not enough. It's hard not to sit and attempt the calculus and try to figure out your likelihood of being the list. My manager has given me hope by talking about future stuff this last week but are they just oblivious or are they cruel or am I safe? I hate this for all of us. Good luck everyone.
There will unfortunately be layoffs announced next week. The person performing the layoff was already brought into a training session on how to perform a mass layoff. If you are not impacted, I cannot stress enough the importance of office attendance if you have been assigned to report to the office. The higher ups are looking at the reports even though it was told that there would be no reporting. They are using FoW as a catalyst to boost people willing to leave without paying for severance. A huge amount of employees in wave 2 were designated to report into an office more than 50 miles away. They have also adjusted severance to account for employees who resign due to the commute above 50 miles. The writing is on the walls. Cigna leadership in combination with ESI new leaders have significantly changed the culture of the company. After 20 years with Cigna I cannot believe what I am witnessing.
Budget issues will persist. I’m a contractor and December they’re running into allocation budget and they’re asking people to take leave until January. I’d be cautious even if you aren’t impacted this round
I am a credible source. Layoff announcements will come out next week. I have been told that my organization is not impacted, but I still am constantly thinking about what's next. Layoffs will continue through the beginning of next year. RTOs goal is to assist in contributing to layoffs. There are not enough spots for wave 2 RTO employees, and Cordani's goal is to get the entire company into the office. I am a wave 1 employee. RTO strategy and its impact on morale with terrible office conditions is a joke. I wish the best for all those impacted.
