Why would I quit now and give up a 6 month severance? That is what FB wants to happen. To me I will start looking for a job 2–3 months before my layoff date.

Is there any potential age discrimination lawsuits? Older remote employees being forced out while young remote employees in same roles can stay remote? Not sure if that's happening, just asking the question as I feel bad for those in that position in their career.

I just don't see the point in handing them the keys to my future, especially with no true guarantee of what the severance, if paid out, will be.

I don't care if you are 22 or 60. Don't let these fvcksticks run your life. There are opportunities out there. Polish your resume, be proactive, don't just wait to be RIF'ed.

I'd say the only exception is if you're at retirement age and ready to ride off in the sunset and be done working.

There was a gent in my old fiserv group well into his 60's that I watched job jump multiple times in the last couple of years. Don't relegate yourself to riding it out thinking you aren't marketable!

@1iry

Thank you - this is my situation. I’ve been with the company nearly 23 years and still need to work. I’m hanging around for my 6 months pay and COBRA. Hopefully I can find something to provide medical insurance for me and my spouse. It won’t be as easy at my age.

Every email I get lately is from India. Between BH and India there is no need for anyone else

Most of Phoenix found out a little over a month ago that it was move to BH or get let go. Then they planned to have several from Phx visit BH to see if they were interested. But then never came back to the phx employees to see if they were interested in moving but hired there replacements already. They started this week. For those of you saying we shouldn't stick it out for the severance, why not?. How much is the job market going to change in 6 months, and by waiting you receive 6 months pay which we earned. Plus, we all have different stories that only we know what's best for ourselves.

It's not that easy for some folks. What if you're 60 +? I doubt companies are scrambling to give sign on bonuses or even looking to hire those folks. What advice do you have for them, especially if they need to work these last few years? Stay as long as they can and get severance or cut their losses and take a chance, they can find something? F--k Fiserv! I don't know why they are putting our most experienced employees thru this - the ones that built this company. I feel bad for everyone and especially those left to do this work (I'm one of them and not looking forward to the insanity), but I feel the most for those that are being forced out at the end of their careers - when we should be celebrating them and all they contribute. They should have just let them be and let them retire over the next few years.

I don't understand those who want to wait for severance. I resigned a couple of weeks ago and joined a company that gave me a sign in bonus that more than made for the elusive severance package from Fiserv. I am also eligible for RSUs and cash bonus double of what I had at Fiserv and don't have to wait 3-5 years to get it.
Again, don't wait until it's too late and yes the grass is greener out there.

I gave my retirement notice back in January for Sept 29th. I was asked 1 week prior to going to stay 6 months and I COULD be eligible for severance. My answer was not just no, it was HE-L NO….not worth the anxiety I was feeling for those who I know will not & can not relocate & those left behind to do the work.

I have stayed and trained, and never felt cr---ier in my life. My manager stayed and lorded over me as I trained my replacement. Never will I do that again - it was a power trip for him, and I should have just said "no."

I was told there are four waves. First quarter, second quarter, third quarter, and fourth quarter 2024.

There will not be any training pay. The only incentive for you to stay and train is for the severance. (We want you to quit is the subtext).

Maybe your personalized layoff will be different than my team's.

It's silly to sit and wait for severance. Even if you get the max, chances are you could advance your salary that much or more by just finding a new position at a better company. Letting them dictate when you leave? No way.

To the person who said March or June is this confirmed? I haven’t heard that folks in this position have been told anything related to when layoffs will happen.

@asl+1oV4ck5: Actually, your severance is your incentive not to bring legal action.

Your severance is your incentive.

I am not a fan of the policy, but we should try and ensure factual information is shared. The 60 days after the 9/13 meetings is for affected folks to share their intent to relocate or not. Any who choose not to relocate would then be asked to stay until March/June with an incentive to help train their replacement. Could others be laid off? Sure. But this is not that.
