Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

My mental health is taking a major hit

People shouldn't have to worry about their jobs all the time. That's not normal. I shouldn't have to resort to medicating myself because our leadership is perfectly okay with keeping us in the dark and keeping us waiting as we keep guessing and worrying. This is not normal and it shouldn't be considered normal.

Wells Fargo plebe sneaking on your board here. I’m truly sorry for yall. I was hoping to join you all and get out of the he-l hole we have become over here. But looks like we are in similar boats. Hang in there. Maybe this is our time to say goodbye to banking and move on to better places.

“No one thinks you are tough”. Says the anonymous internet Boomer. Priceless.
What’s next? Blame the next generations for deficiencies that are rooted in failures of society, the eod only, parenting, etc that your generator was responsible for?

“Back in my day we put in a hard days work”. You mean before you guys ruined the economy right? Before housing became unaffordable? And when you didn’t need to take out to what amounts to a mortgage to pay for an education? You people had oversight over all this and you failed miserably. Then you want to call people that call out your failures as whiners. You ARE A FAILURE. Deal with it.

The entitlement and arrogance is mind numbing.

Grow a set or pull up your big girl pa-ties and grow the heck up! We are all stressed. That’s life. I’m sorry your parents didn’t teach you how to handle the up and downs of life. Probably were of the generation where they medicated you on the advice of the school and/or pediatrician. Do your job and go home. Come back and repeat. Companies haven’t care about their employees for over 50 years.

Many of you fellow Teammates need to grow a pair. It is a job, you do your job, you go home (if you’re not already there). If you don’t feel as though you’re compensated enough for the job go find a better one! Majority never heard of work from home prior to the pandemic. You hauled yourself to an office every day, did your job and went home. Yes you worked from home and things didn’t miss a beat during the pandemic, congratulations but you compensated then as well. All the whining makes me sick. You don’t like your boss? Who cares! It’s not a popularity contest, get over yourselves. Do what you’re paid to do and STFU!!

I took the early retirement package they offered in 2021 after being very unhappy for several years. I know many people who were riffed in the same time period and none of them are unhappy now or wish they were still at Truist. My advice is to assume you will be riffed and do the best job you can while you are there. Update your resume and LinkedIn now, it’s much easier when you are not under pressure. I now work for a smaller community bank and I have never been happier. The big banks use you up and sp-t you out when you are no longer useful. Hang in there .

A hard truth is the company isn’t here for you, you're here for the company. If the environment is unhealthy for you, you should bite the bullet and leave. Take care of yourself and your family first.

No company is worth your life, health or safety.

I do worry with the RIFs, stress and RTO that some dude is going to snap. May Truist only be in the news for business.

If an executive leader is speaking I presume they are lying. Why? Been lied to countless times over years. It’s acceptable in the banking world. I’d like the care, family stuff if it was true, but it’s not and never is.

They would say it's /because/ they care about teammates that they are being thoughtful, meticulous, and giving it the time/attention it requires as they're working through this. I doubt they enjoy stressing people out, but they have to consider the business needs first no matter the cost to the individual teammate level psyche.

They would also speak to the economic climate, and that we're all going thru a challenging time and changes. Competitors are experiencing it as well.

So, before you drink the Kool-Aid at any company, remember the relationship. The company and you are not family, not buddies. It's strictly professional. The deal is you do a service, give your time in exchange for compensation. The business earns more profit by your contributions than they lose paying your salary else your role is eliminated.

I know they use words like care but it's really not appropriate in my opinion. I'd rather they say: we don't want you to be miserable necessarily, if you can work here AND be happy that's great, but we need you for a financial purpose solely... until we don't in which case we part ways. It's better to accept the arrangement, than to believe falsely that care for me and you is a top priority.

They don't care what your mental concerns are at this time. Probably never did.
