Thread regarding Follett layoffs

From what I see

From what I see the Big Ten schools are getting everything they need. It doesn’t seem to be an issue there. it doesn’t look like they’re cutting back on staff they don’t have as much as they used to, but they certainly are able to cover their floor. I don’t get it.

From what I have heard smaller stores in the company are getting YES!!! Schools need more than 40 hours in payroll to do 175,000 in a week or half a million for back to school or more. Oh wait, we don't need help in the stacks, we don't need help pulling orders to pack and shelve or ship, we don't need help to transfer books to other stores that need them last minute, we dont need help getting those last minute orders dealt with or correcting those that arrive wrong, and trust me those boxes of clothes coming in will pile up and stay there until later. We will survive without a shirt on the floor but won't have an account if you don't cover textbooks and 1 person doing 8 schools textbooks only puts it back on the store to fix and correct. Store lead and 1 person CAN NOT DO IT. That 175000 used 2 registers running constant 1 online person 10 to 2 and lead in text is minimum..and if everyone is new that's not enough either.

So here’s the thing…we know that as managers we end up doing a lot of tasks so we don’t need to spend payroll on hourly employees doing those tasks. I get it. I cashier, receive, ship, take out trash, mop, invoice, talk with faculty, order food/art, stock, etc. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT’S HOLY, at least give enough payroll so it doesn’t take me 60 hours/week to get those things done. It’s only human. And yes, applications are out there. I want my life back.

You can complain about the cuts and layoffs, but how about instead think about Follett’s dear owner. He gets to be on the list of the 400 top billionaires in the US. Think of him and his third yacht and $25000 dinners rather than your selfish need to feed a family.

I'm curious what their shrink is going to look like after inventory.
Don't care.
JRC has declared victory. Everything went exactly to plan.
High priced Ivory Tower executives will get bonuses.
Move on.

So is this inferring other schools are not getting what they need? East coast? West coast? South? Big Ten schools infer major schools with athletics so naturally they would need more to support operations. Are other big schools being shorted?

My home school is fairly large (20,000 students), but it's not prestigious. They have been working on bare bones since before the realignment, boxes of GM piling up everywhere, unreceived text, falling behind on everything because they simply do not have enough people. It's a really big store, being manned by a CSM, ASM, and one cashier. I'm curious what their shrink is going to look like after inventory.
