Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

St. Louis Area

How’s things going in the greater St. Louis area sites? It used to be a major operation with One SBC/One AT&T Center, Des Pere, Bridgeton, and other sites. The last I heard was that the St. Louis area sites are barely a skeleton compared to their former glory days in the 80’s and 90’s.

Oh yeah, I remember. They got lost in St Loohy, stopped to get directions, the family truckster got stripped in a matter of minutes! Great movie, art imitating life!

St Louis is a nasty place.
Remember the movie "Vacation"? That right there is reality!

"Doesn't really matter! All interim hub outside of Dallas and Atlanta will disappear. Don't waste your time and money moving multiple times. If you really want to relocate, move to Dallas or Atlanta. Move once, cry once!"

= has no clue!

Hub's have already been established. If you don't know what they are, you need to get informed!

I’ve been to St. Louis.
Love the Arch!

Aside from the Arch, it’s a city in decline.

And no, it’s not like Dallas.
And no, it doesn’t have the energy of San Ramon or Los Angeles.

Good try though.

“Downtown St. Louis is like Dallas downtown, quiet after working hours, usually b-ms walking the streets. The locations they need to close is Los Angeles and San Ramon. I had people working in those locations that had salaries almost twice as much as folks in St Louis and Indy.”

Per Stanky St. Louis is a hub location. Here's a link to an interview from May 2023.

The locals in St. Louis love shutting down the highway. Good luck with your commute.

St. Louis has a lot of tech dev, finance, and CSO folks. We have two big buildings down town, bridgeton, manchester, and several smaller offices. What people forget about is that it has 1 of the last remaining data centers and they cant afford to move it to azure/aws because of increased subscription cost. St. Louis has some other benefits like the N2 salary range that is much cheaper than the other hubs. Downtown St. Louis is like Dallas downtown, quiet after working hours, usually b-ms walking the streets. The locations they need to close is Los Angeles and San Ramon. I had people working in those locations that had salaries almost twice as much as folks in St Louis and Indy. Our leadership thinks people will move, but they are not moving and there will be a major gap in knowledge starting in 2025. This whole idea of now manager promotions unless in Dallas or Atlanta is why i have use no use for DEI. This policy is excluding great people from all over the US just because of location. This is one of the reasons why T is failing. We are promoting by location, not by ability. Ed Whitacre and Ralph De Lavega understood the value of diversity, to bad they are gone. And for the chicago folks, I feel bad for u. Your government is corrupt and businesses continue to leave for better opportunities.

Legg claimed in his video responses that St Louis would not be an AT&T hub in the future. Outside of some that are hubs for him, which St Louis is not, only Atlanta and Dallas will be AT&T hubs. Never heard anything about St Louis not being a hub except that thing by Legg, and he's a perpetual liar so who knows.

'Bout time, St. Louis was way, way, overstaffed. Much like NJ, no way in he-l you can justify the excess.
