Many level 3+ meetings are happening this week and next week to deal with employees who aren't meeting their required time in the office. RTO noncompliance isn't a small number, and if they wanted to eliminate everyone, it would cripple specific sectors of the business, and they know that. It is us vs. them, and we are winning!

It's free for all; nobody will be fired for failing to follow RTO, according to my organization's (AVP) statement that nobody is looking at the reports
Why not mention the AVP?
If the bloodbath layoff of 2017 ( remember " Collaboration Zones " ? lol ) taught us anything it's this:
AT&T doesn't care how much expertise / wisdom they lose. It isn't even a consideration when they decide who and how many to lay off. They are only interested in getting to whatever their final headcount is.
"at this time we are not looking at the reports."
You better believe they are looking at reports, and it's only going to get worse. Apparently, leadership doesn't have any real work to do, so they are micromanaging us. Received email last week implicitly stating vacation and holidays don't count as RTO days, and the reports will identify that. They are looking for any reason to get rid of people.
Still there are many VPs who spun their favorites as allowed to work outside the 9.
This needs to be reviewed above EVP who allows VPs to snow him.
"predetermined waves of hc"
Our L3 shared his screen and showed us a live dashboard that tracks RTO compliance. (Not RTW, if you have not already been at work, it's a performance issue regardless of location).
Somebody upstairs at 208 authorized the development of that tool, no mean feat in today's severely austere environment. They intend to use it. Another way to reduce headcount without risking the bad PR and investor news of "layoff". It's "cost alignment" or some such euphemism.
"𝐶𝘖𝐵𝘊 𝘷𝑖𝘰𝑙𝘢𝑡𝘪𝑜𝘯", eh?
How does:
• acquiring multiple companies and selling at a loss
• running up massive debt just in time to enjoy new interest rates
• making forward-looking statements about Time Warner stock only to have it fall by half after spinoff,
• arbitrarily forcing an older workforce with experience through a layoff that's not really a layoff but "relocation" by every description except legal (we are getting severance, so it's just a layoff? huh?) , then bragging about it on an all hands that gets erased Rosemary Woods-style
how does all this comport with our—or any—Code of Business Conduct?
Technically, yes: staying in your zero-cost-to-company home office (don't equate GB of VPN usage with actual real estate square footage unless you add a factor of 0.001) , getting the same work done that is indistinguishable from in-the-office except for an IP address record or badge swipe, is COBC 'cause "𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘴𝘰, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘺." In reality, COBC stands for "cabal of Board company-men." If they weren't, C-Suite would have been replaced years ago.
Funny how our bonus was the highest during the pandemic and when almost everyone was working from home! Hmm..
RTO needs to be renamed RTW (Return To Work).
RTO or no RTO, the layoff will keep happening, regardless! They can’t let you go because of the non RTO or they should NOT. If you let one go for not “complying” the RTO cr-p, you’ll need to let everyone, I mean everyone that do not fully “comply” whatever that means or it’s a lawsuit wait to happen. RTO is a joke. People don’t mind going back to the office. I personally have enjoyed seeing and interacting with others but to think that we’re d-mb enough to understand your actual intention behind the RTO is what pi----g me and others off! There are people that have been working from home for over 2 decades and now they need to commute for 4 hours every single day. Why? I hope whomever came up with this idea will burn in he-l on earth and in the afterlife because you know what you’re doing!
I was told that in my location, they are only counting badge swipes per day--not hours between in/out. Perhaps they can't figure out how to do the arithmetic or something. Or maybe related to some locations don't swipe out
Really, you're only having to go into the office 3 days a week. Run the reports and take out the trash. Free up some cash flow!
The level 3’s have been fired. Level 2 and below next..
Define winning
It's free for all; nobody will be fired for failing to follow RTO, according to my organization's (AVP) statement that, and I quote, "at this time we are not looking at the reports."
This suggestion is a COBC violation. Stop this now.
Go into your bathroom, look your at your self in the mirror and you will find out who can can do anything about it.
Good way to get fired. Best just go in and wait to be surplused while job hunting.
This suggestion is a COBC violation. Stop this now.
It matters because, there’s a difference between getting laid off and getting fired. If they are going to get rid of me regardless because I’m not in Dallas, I’d rather get the 6 months severance.
Why the fock does it matter? they are going to lay you off regardless. If you are not in DALLAS considered yourself LAID OFF - do whatever the FOCK you want.
If you are “let go” for non compliance, does that mean with or without severance?
Let's assume it's a legitimate question.
No, no severance in this case. And in most states, no unemployment.
"Well my L3 hasn’t been seen at work in almost 2 years."
Many have not worked period.
If you are “let go” for non compliance, does that mean with or without severance?
Good idea. Keep working from home. I need people to fill the lay off quotas instead of me.
Well my L3 hasn’t been seen at work in almost 2 years.
I've heard something quite different from my L3. There are predetermined waves (numbers) of HC to be let go at periodic intervals and a great way to be "moved up" in the order of being severed is to be non-compliant with RTO. It would just take a few people as "examples" of those not showing up to get people falling into line. I'm not trying to be a jerk; just telling you the truth.
