Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Remote non hub

Remote and main office in another state. I believe there is a "closest hub" 49 miles away with people I don't work with.
I'm gone right and when?
Do any LOB's have exceptions?

No one will tell us the criteria used to select who goes or stays!

There are always exceptions. In the August layoff for my LOB, there were three categories. 1. Remote, non-hub, 8/8 was the last working day. 2. Remote, non-hub, will be displaced sometime before the end of 2024. 3. Remote, non-hub, a few people were told they are exempt. No one was willing or able to explain what the exempt criteria is/was. People that were told are exempt do not know why.

Exceptions EVERYWHERE.

One of the main reasons morale is so low.

We have been told you have to be in a hub for your job function. So if going to a hub that is not designated for your business unit, the message is that you will be laidoff between now and early 2025... or if you have no hub because they closed yours or you have always been remote, you will be laidoff. Doesn't matter how much work you do daily. They simply don't care about quality or loyalty or anything other than this ignorant hub for your business unit mentality.

From what I’ve seen, some LOBs have honored existing remote agreements/exceptions for certain roles - for NOW…. Some are displacing remote employees. Also, majority of hiring managers for jobs posted will not consider a remote candidate. Can’t blame them as they have to get OC 1 down approvals and that request is frowned upon (you couldn’t find anyone for the job that is not remote?!?). CS and company do not value remote work (except for the biggest case of remote work — India and Philippines) so the writing is on the wall, unfortunately.

The 40 miles number is a strange one. I know for a fact I'm exactly 21 miles, one-way, from the nearest office location in my LOB. My group was ordered back into their cells 3x a week but I'm not included.

It's going to depend on what your job needs/requires, IMO.

Depends on a lot of factors, not limited to your group's location strategy, your specific skill set, if you're willing to commute 40+ miles, how much work your department has, and of what nature, etc.
