Why does it seem like the current crop of UX people actually match the description in the first reply?

Let's hope so. You folks with your pseudo-science and pseudo-statistics have been riding the gravy train for too many years.

Yes. A conservative appearance is important in banking, so management will be targeting all Experience Design team members with visible tattoos, excessive piercings and non-standard hairstyles and hair colors.

Additionally, they will be targeting staff from "aimless" degree programs and those who supplemented their skills from sources such as General Assembly, Udemy, Google, YouTube, LinkedIn, or other questionable, low-value backgrounds.

Practitioners who make statements such as "the user thinks this", or "the user does this" without valid statistical research or backing should be especially worried. Your pointless "Jedi mind-tricks" are nothing more than supposition on your part without evidence. Management is especially keen to eliminate team members who engage in these self-righteous manipulations, as they waste resources based on opinions which are no better than random chance.

Practitioners who do not fall into the categories mentioned above, can consider themselves "safe" per standard Banking and IT business layoff cycles.
