Toxic management, toxic coworkers and toxic policies. I'm desperately trying to get out but I'm worried that it will take me a long time to recover from having worked here. If some potential employees are reading this, RUN. You don't want to work in this mess, trust me.

Unfortunately, T is no longer a company that people want to work for....it has gone downhill in a big way....I remember being so proud to work at AT&T...now it's borderline embarassing....constant layoffs, leadership with a track record of failed acquisitions, piling on debt, etc...
At the end of the day, you need to do what is right for you and your families and those you love and care for...it's tough to work in an environment where we have to cut thousands of jobs every month to keep the lights on. As others have mentioned, start coming up with Plan B so you are prepared for the next round of cuts..
There are a ton of good opportunities out there...take the next step...and be in control of your future.
Please take the lazy entitled ones that believe the company owes them for their 40+ years. Besides spreading additional negative feelings they will focus more efforts to run from work than it will to engage. They feel they are owed a package like we did decades ago. We lay off the future while keeping negativity.
Gonna put in for my retirement in October and can't wait for my last day! This place has gone from one of the best places to work to the worst company to work for. Ever since SBC came in with their management, this place has gone downhill, unfortunately!
This goes out to everyone: start your job search NOW.
I second that. The biggest mistake of my professional career is that I did not take this exact advice years ago.
Actually, finding a new company soon is the best antidote to the T venom.
When I got my new gig it was as if a giant, bright, 10,000 watt bulb was ignited. I was respected. I was appreciated. Management didn't lie to my face all of the time. I'm not constantly worried about the next layoff. None of this relocation insanity. My work had meaning. My CEO wasn't an arrogant, incompetent douche.
It literally was as if I had simply moved from an abusive relationship into a nurturing one.
This goes out to everyone: start your job search NOW. Regardless of whether you may be laid off next month or not. Update that resume. Start networking. Look at the various job sites.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Take it, go on that journey, and find the newer and better place.
Leave T to Stink and his sycophants. Time to take care of yourself. And while the "Don't boo, vote" line may not apply, tweaking it to "Don't complain, leave" is just as valid.
The same guy with the same complaint because life is going nowhere.
Don't torture yourself - resign immediately
Collaborate more to lower the toxicity.
And don’t look to Mobility for anything better. We have a former uverse tech hired over on our side a couple years ago from across the country. And now he’s over here pulling his hair out. Same sh*t, different side of the fence. A lot of the problems have followed over to mobility from the legacy side…the landline managers end up over here when they get cut.
yep it really started when they bought the baby bells back but it really took a down slide between 2010 and 2015 and has never recovered.
not sure if the company will ever get out of it. to fix a problem you have to admit you have a problem first and I just don't see that. they have the george w bush syndrome.
You will never be the same. You will be the weirdo at your new company because classlessness and laziness are contagious and you are infected. Please prove me wrong. Thank you
According to upper management the more managers that leave is better for the bottom line. Many are not needed anymore and cling on to a position out of fear and loathing of others. It is better to not RTO and just pack your exit cardboard box now. Don’t take any office pens or paperclips with you, they may be used by your foreign worker replacement if needed. AT&T thanks you for your service but wants you to get out.
Have you ever thought that it must be you?
We will be less Toxic after you are gone. I am sure you are one of the protected groups. Grow up, if you don’t like it here quit and see if the grass on the other side of the fence is greener. Once you jump the fence we will have fewer weeds in our lawn.
Sounds like OP needs a safe space.
It's a total sh-t show...
