Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

UAW, UPS, WGA, SAG...

Pattern of successfully striking. Working collectively to demand what what they deserve from selfish, overpaid management.

Wake up, WF employees!

Resist unionizing - it puts a layer of people between you and your future ....people that you have to PAY

Two reminders.

First, WF pays a lot of money to trade groups and PACs that do not have your best interests at heart.

Two, I keep seeing rumblings about unions but I have yet to see anyone reach out to a union organizer, someone who knows how to get things done and the law.

The country was better when unions were strong, for all their fautls, and C level execs and shareholders made a little less.

They're rich, they can afford it.

As far as sending jobs overseas, where have you been for the last 20 plus years, WF has hundreds of offshore workers, same as every other big corporation.

Not having union support hasn't protected your job so far.

@1dmd if paying it's employees a fair wage is going to bankrupt a company, it deserves to go bankrupt.

Pattern of successfully striking. With UPS, SAG perhaps. But if the economy goes into a recession I wonder if UPS will survive. Think you are too early on the others. The UAW resolution will be interesting. The electric vehicle requires 40% less work than an ICE car. This (and Musk) is one of the reasons why Tesla hasn't unionized. Unions can ki-l companies.

How is that anything different from what’s happening now?

Keep talking unions and watch your jobs go overseas and your branches closed. The company doesn’t need to keep your jobs here or at all.

Cancel culture is often warranted.

Time to cancel corporate abuses and grossly imbalanced CEO compensation.

I'm all for pursuing union.

“Wake up WF employees “
“if Wells Fargo employees were smart enough”

Does berating usually work to get employees to join a union? I don’t need things sugar coated but I’ll be damned if I accept sm--k talk from someone who wants something from me. Do better, OP.

Thank you @dwd for taking the time to explain. Most on here like to label those that ask questions as “trolls” and will not answer said questions, so I do appreciate you making the effort.

From your explanation, it seems one has to show interest in a union just to get to the point of trying to formulate why we would want a union. That seems very backwards to me, but that appears to be how a union is started, so mark me as interested to see where it leads and I’ll decide if it’s a fit later down the road.

99% vs 1%. What happens if 99% of us organize? The 1% realizes it’s outnumbered. Majority rule people. It’s that simple.

@kvb

The reason that a union can't provide a detailed proposal up front is because unions don't unilaterally decide the details of the proposal.

The union works with employees to draft the proposal based on employee feedback. These proposals are very specific (like a legal document) because they become the basis for future negotiations, and possibly a strike.

Before a proposal can be created, employees need to engage the union and express their desire to organize.

As negotiations progress, employees cast votes for whether they're for our against the current proposal. If enough employees are for it, the organizing efforts become more serious. If not enough employees vote for the proposal, then it's either modified or dies on the vine.

In other words, there's no harm in getting to the point of a draft labor contract. Either things improve for you or (worse case scenario) they stay the same. But when employees won't even see what a proposal looks like, things are guaranteed to either stay the same, or get worse.

So you do know what they want, you just dismiss it out of hand and somehow use that to confirm your own beliefs.

“ They don't even want to see a proposal before deciding”

I’ve asked multiple times and the “union” team cannot even post what their proposal would be or what they would be fighting for. Is it better pay, cheaper benes, better benes, a pension, what exactly is on the table that a union contract would pursue? If you say all of the above i know you are full of it, as all of those would not make an inital contract that the bank would sign.

Tell me what you are trying to accomplish with a union, and i’ll listen but so far it’s all been “join us, we’ll make it all better”. Uhhh right…

Hey troll, there's more labor in this country than there are executives. Keep pushing us into corporate serfdom and you'll lose more than just share holder value.

Remember, WF just added a C-Suite hire to focus solely on fighting against unionization. THAT tells how seriously they take it.

Use your power, employees!

I think WF will shutter before unionization could ever happen. But g*d knows we need it!

Employees need to stop accepting
corporate garbage and unite in a meaningful way. NOW!

Many people resent unions because they see employees that are under unions as having an "easy ride". These people get resentful because they feel that they work really hard while union workers don't.

The anti-union people then decide to despise unions instead of fighting for the improved benefits that unions bring.

It's right about now that someone wants to point out a corrupt auto union from decades ago (70s, Jimmy Hoffa, etc) but that's obviously irrelevant at this point in time.

WF employees would most likely benefit from union representation but too many people's minds are closed. They don't even want to see a proposal before deciding(!). But they'll still complain about how horrible it is to work at Wells 🤷

It's truly bizarre how much people in the US actively "vote" against their own interests.

Unionization of hourly employees is the only thing that will save the bank. We’ve been lied to and gaslit to death for decades. Charlie and his ilk continue to get rich off of exploiting our labors, while still managing to have money to spare to pay record fines caused by their lack of leadership and overall toxic greed. It’s not a matter of if it will happen, but more a question of when?
