Management Severance Details tied to RTO

Curious as to people’s experiences / info with severance when declining a forced relocation >50 miles (>500 miles actually). I read the management severance policy and it makes no mention I can find as to whether severance will be paid if you refuse relocation but I’ve heard around the office it’s not guaranteed. Currently in a market ACE office 3x a week but on a national team. Any first hand experience out there?

The mileage associated with relo has been discusses many times. From what I recall there is no distance mentioned in T docs. There is a reference to it in the WARN act and lots of legal discussion about it.

It's covered in the Eligibility section, 1.3

They intentionally do not get specific with regard to mileage requirements and such.

What covers it is paragraph D- "...including as a direct result of force surplus, technological, operational, organizational and structural changes affecting AT&T..."

Your job moving 500 miles is an "organizational and structural" change. Thus the eligibility for severance.

" All explained in the Employee Handbook"

The is literally no such thing as an "Employee Handbook".

Aiy Yi Yi!

It is a “forced relocation” in order to maintain employment.

Another term would be “forced resignation” if you can’t move.

After reading some of the posts on this board I truly believe that some of you lack the proper qualifications for employment.

You can’t read! You lack comprehension skills.

“This isn’t a forced relocation at all. You were given a choice to move. If you made a conscious decision to decline relocation when first presented the choice, you will receive severance”

“decided to avoid the hassle and relocate close to the hub.”

Same. I was originally planning to leave but have decided to move to Atlanta.

I've not heard of any deviation from "past practices" insofar as declining relocation. And that past practice was layoff with severance.

Received notice my job was moving to a hub. I had a deadline to say Yes or No and a deadline to relocate. Was told in initial notice that if declined, severance notification will come in October and will be two weeks notice.

If you agree to relocate and do not by deadline you lose severance option and are off payroll.
