This is your future as a member of the workforce in the USA. Telcom workers will go the way of the auto industry. It's important for the UAW to get the best contract for the rank and file, as this will dictate future earnings and benefits for all workers.

“The company will have layoffs no matter the contract, maybe this time we get decent raises and they will layoff a lot of the unnecessary staff and VP titles.”
T is already cutting management (plenty more to do). Should the U fight for better raises or keeping headcount?
Yes, I always wanted to pay $125,000 for a Ford focus

Whatever gains we get will come at the expense of massive headcount reductions. Just how good of a contract do you want? Be careful what you ask for.
Stop with the Gigapower! You must be the same person that kept posting about musk satellites taking over all communications, LOL! Getting ready for a strike, tired of take backs and unfairness.
The small nearly nonexistent Gigapower workforce hasn’t enough experience to find their assets with both hands. Keep fooling yourself that they can cover multiple titles over multiple states coast to coast including Hawaii. They are only tasked with areas that aren’t AT&T territories.
Buy a Tesla. Made in the USA.
Go ahead and strike, plenty of contractors within Giga Power would take the work. Unions need to go away.
D-mb question. Just how do you propose to support UAW. A Union none of you are even in. Just wondering... kicking in some spare change in a coffee jar at the dealership, that says UAW on it? honking your ho-n as you pass by? boycotting three major auto manufacturers? What can you possibly do that would actually help an auto worker in a union, that is supposed to help their own members?
simply - no. I don't support unions. you're on your own.
The Feds bailed out the Teamsters Union pension plan to the tune of 56B last year. You know buried in the Infrastructure Bill. I don’t have a pension. I am saving for retirement and paying taxes to bail out pensions! Does not seem fair.
This is exactly why the Teamsters pension fund had to cut pension recipient benefits by 50% because employers could no longer afford to contribute to the employees pensions.
There are less Teamsters today than 45 years ago, thereby, less pension contributions going into the fund, but still has thousands of recipients. The equation is upside down and no longer sustainable.
District 3 Aug 2024 Contract expires - start saving up some money for a possible strike so we can get a piece of that pie going around. 25% pay increase would be a nice bump for all the hard work we do.
Don't worry they'll keep splicing union. But anyone else can forget it. They'll most likely contract the work out. You can strike all you want but you have no leverage.
I so wish for a strike come contract time. So, so many soft bodies trying to physical work for the first time in decades. It's hot out there boys and sometimes it's real cold and raining. What is constant is that ladder is heavy, and when you fall from it, it hurts and sometimes ki-ls.
AT&T doesn't care. Cost/needs of the business. The old days CP managers got hurt while training for strike duty and didn't have to go to their assignment.
Now there is online training for strike duty. Can't really mouse click to restart the course when your ladder has slipped off the strand in real life...

The 9 levels of management that analyze the efficiency of the union workers think we’re too expensive.
9 Levels of management is what is required to achieve an Industry Leading Cost Structure.
I’m in management now, but I started as a prem tech before they went union. The company was absolutely taking advantage of the techs at that time - paying way too little and requiring way too much. Techs were fired for ridiculous reasons and had no way to even argue their side. I am conservative and used to think unions were no longer needed, but I know now the best thing for our company and this country is to have a balance of control. A company or union having complete control is a bad thing. Just like one political party having complete control is a bad thing.
Well I can’t afford new car prices. Maybe a used import.
With RTO lurking over your head, a used import would be a good choice. I hear used car prices are coming down a little. Check out your local Tote The Note lots before your credit goes to S h i T after AT&T has divested from you.
Why are quality made cars made in NON union shops?
Dang, I hope my Ford doesn't blow up, it only has 190K miles on it.. My last Ford had 265K miles on it when I sold it. Sold it to a friend, we are still friends.
I’m in the union and I can honestly say I’ve never played golf while on the clock. We are too busy working on an out of service customer or a customer service order. That’s the hard truth so say what you want about the union. You make more than we do.

Management here, no sympathy.
Had to pull strike duty over the years to cover for people out on the pick line.
Believe in meritocracy.
Meritocracy has little benefit these days at AT&T. Nepotism, now there is some real value right there.
It also helps when you hire date was. Legacy employee with benefits, no dice. New hires in the last decade, well as Big Daddy in Django Unchained would say, "Well come on inside and get yourself something cool to drink."

That you for your sacrifice. Those multiday strikes must have been difficult for you....
Those that think unions have no use are id--ts. Do you think our company would have the wage and benefit packages without collective bargaining? Management also benefits from what happens on the bargained side. Get a clue.
Yeah, I’m union and we have quite a few slackers. It su-ks because I’m a mobility tech in a metro area, and I get hammered with tickets - repair and capital work.
That being said, I wouldn’t work for this company in a non union role. They’re way too brutal with their employees. They treat mgmt like throw aways.
Funny, people think the union is greedy, but Stankey making more in a day than any of us do in a year to run this company into the ground is somehow reasonable to them.
I just wish the BOD would cut Stankey's salary by 3/4. He needs to be taught a lesson, cr-p performance equals cr-p compensation.
Not bargaining in good faith is unacceptable. Will get no support from any hard working American.

Why should we keep telecom workers if there is no telecom industry anymore ? Thus is a business not a charity. If you’re going to pay you 40 hours for work then there better be 40 hours of work that is going to end up helping the company. I suspect a lot of people in cwa think it’s ok to be paid 40 hours a week to play tiddly winks cause that’s what was bargained for.
Unions have outlived their usefulness. They typically protect the underperformers.
Ha! All unions need to go away. They served their purpose when needed and are no longer necessary.
