Which departments/teams will most likely be affected?

they need to cut all the md's who require skip level meetings just to keep their calendar filled - no need for them or all the bs meetings that occur - especially in the finance realm
The whole point here is.. do we really need so many MDs and directors in STS? Absolutely not!
Cobol and mainframe is 70%+ of bank industry
@1ewk+1oMPcp0M
The stigma is we feel all MDs and Directors are boomers. If you can code, it will be in Cobol or Fortran.
Any role not tied to in year client outcomes.
Any R&D, innovation, internal nice to have items like newsletters, event planning
These are typically axed immediately.
If you get fired

ChatGPT would blow a fuse trying to navigate the red tape at this hellhole
@2jvb+1oMPcp0M How dare you! My director was a former coder and can still write if statements!!!!
@2zvi+1oMPcp0M let's see how ChatGPT handles 100 levels of scrutiny, approvals, review boards and politics. And let's not forget ChatGPT is not Rama's family. ;)
Whoever passes the sniff test aka 5th grade level coding test can stay
ICs are going to be replaced by ChatGPT. Instead of 10 ICs we managers need only 2 ICs using chatgpt. 2 is for redundancy in case one is on sick/vacation/other type of leave.
Senior Managers/Directors and MD's will likely be on the chopping block first.
They need to cut cost at the top where there is duplication and project consolidation. Areas like technology, infrastructure, database, voice and other such areas will be consolidated.
The admin of my MD codes! Java, C#, Apex, and many other things.
My senior manager codes right alongside with the team and pitches in with production support issues and anything else needed. Maybe Schwab should just let people use their talents where they have them as long as they’re meeting all of their obligations (which HELPS Schwab btw) instead of constantly beating them on the heads by telling them that they can only be one (mostly useless) thing.
Director (PL) here. I'm not quite sure where the stigma comes from that Directors and MDs cannot code. Many of us were developers, tech leads, and dev managers for a very long time before our current roles. I personally could still write code all day if need be, and I still review code with my teams when we have to troubleshoot production issues. This also applies to many of my colleagues as well. As someone already said, at the Director and above level we are discouraged from coding since our roles are no longer that of an individual contributor, but that does not mean we can't code.
@kod+1oMPcp0M Tech leads do not code either. The ones with 58. That’s bad.

People wearing badges.
Scrum masters and PMs.
@woe+1oMPcp0M MDs are discouraged from coding.
STS Director (IC)
I have not seen Marketing mentioned here, but that is the department I am in. There are a lot of duplicate roles since the merge with TDA, and a lot of directors/MDs managing less than 5 people. My impression is that CS has some very outdated marketing practices and the TDA people have more updated skillsets. Who knows how this will shake out, though.
STS should not have these many managers, directors and MDs. It’s tech arm and you need more of developers and tech leads who can code as well.
STS MD.
