Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Non working notice and no PC?

If given a non working notice and told you’re expected to work if they need you to over the 60 days, but they immediately send you a notice that your computer items have to be sent back… does that mean that don’t ever have you log in to help? It’s just conflicting and I’m confused

@1gib+1oLtwMv8 When displaced you are required to update Workday with personal email and phone number. HR will be sending lots of emails with info regarding displacement as well as how to access Teamworks from home and Workday after your network access is cut off.
During the 60-day nonworking period your mgr. can contact you about any work you walked away from.

My understanding is the notice period is a way they can comply with WARN and notify the governor of layoffs the same day the employees are told they’re being let go. WFC is in compliance without having 60 days (more in some states) of scared workers wondering who in their department/location is getting let go, and the employee gets the silver lining of what (most of the time) is 60+ extra days of severance. Yes you’re technically still a WFC employee, but my understanding is that it’s pretty rare they’d ask you to do work for your old job. If HR actually finds a new position to move you to in the 60 days, then yeah you’ll get called back to work (and if you’d already found a new job before then and turn it down, you’ll be ineligible for your remaining displacement pay and severance, since you’ve technically left on your own volition). But if that happened at that point you’d be given the equipment you need.

Now there's a good point. If one has turned in their computer and the rest of their company gear, how does one even get the teams meeting notice? How could one even work if all the gear is gone and no more access to teamworks etc? Asking for a friend....

@1gyl

You missed the point.

Referring to the DEVICE used to call in, not the dial-in number.

If no company phone provided, I'm not dialing in.

They won't ask in most cases. Mine did and I said I would then said what incentive do I have not to totally sc--w you? He said forget it.

@skd

Dialed in with what? If no company phone provided (already taken away), then I'm not dialing in for any calls. Period.

You want to play by corporate rules and lay off thousands of people, then play by the rules all the way.

They always say that and they'll never "need" you.

HR trumps anything your manager says. Once you receive notice you now belong to HR directly and your manager is directed not to interact with you in general. If HR directed this “must work when we require” edict, that is all well and good but if you receive instructions on how to turn in your equipment from them then go ahead. It will be on them to get you gear if they need your help.

that is correct.....
Network access will be cut within 2hrs of your notification.
I was asked to join a call to with mgr and a teammate and I dialed in.

Sounds like a great question for your manager.
