In the central office

If you had ba--s you would go to the OSHA web site and file a formal complaint for safety in regards to not having proper lighting.
If I had any ph--ks to give I would have. I don't care anymore. This place is not worth it. I'm going to take my 1.5 million in retirement funds and bounce here soon.
Lol, only ATT has no phone service in their own CO.
Net savings to at&t for removal of all telephone lines in company Central Office locations = $0. It probably cost us more by losing the tax deduction!
Sounds like more John Stankey math at work here.
Just wait until there is an emergency and nobody has access to a cell phone or boot a computer to get a VOIP service.
". FX lines came in with ESS,"
FX;s have been around far, Far, FAR longer than ESS

Put in a ticket to CRE ticket for more bulbs or ask your manager to.
Asked my manager for some project tickets and changed all the blown bulbs I could in my 2 Central Offices, put a ticket in for CRE for the ones that are too high, have ballast or motion sensor issues.
AT&T Creed - No job is so important, and no service is so urgent that we cannot take time to perform our work safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
It’s a safety issue if you have no to low light in your office. I’ll change those bulbs all day long for what they are paying me. It’s actually part of our job unless they are very high.
Where and how did you get new bulbs from?? We have a box of 20 year old bulbs that never got recycled. We sometimes dig though that box to see which bulbs have less black around the ends and try to find two that will work together.
Over 4 years ago my building got rid of the PBX, all managers had to use their tin can and string for calls. Saved a few dollars.
"if you have no to low light in your office"
Dim lights need to be replaced as soon as possible, starting at the c-suite, figuratively.

It makes sense to eliminate unnecessary land lines to reduce maintenance costs.
However, you should keep necessary land lines.
Personally I think it’s just another desperate measure to find “money”.
It’s like looking for coins in the couch or canceling HBO or eliminating your favorite Starbucks coffee.
They want to keep the useless union folks, from playing Clash of Clans all day
What??
I certainly hope, and I'm sure I will get my wish that your RTO assignment is 120 miles away.
They want to keep the useless union folks, from playing Clash of Clans all day
Can they do this?
Fun fact. If my manager wants to gig me on a fiber circuit that I connected that has something wrong with it, I say where is my fiber scope?? (Excuse=Budget)
20 years ago I could see where I was walking in the CO, today not so much. If my manager has a problem with what I do, go forth boy and wave your hands around in hope to lights come on for you.
The power/lights will be next.
You have lights in the CO? Must be nice.
About 40% of the lights or ballasts are failed in the offices I work in. If the lights are on aux framing, CRE won't touch it. If the lights are hung from the ceiling then the janitorial services are responsible for changing bulbs. Surprise! There is no budget for either of those entities.
I guess everyone needs to give a little to help pay for the C Suites failures.
The power/lights will be next.
Hello?
This actually makes sense.
I've been in the CO environment since the 80's. FX lines came in with ESS, in case we lost an office.
There is zero reason to have landlines in a CO where decent cell service is available. Even in the event of a complete power, genny, and battery failure, the mobile should have access to First Net, or even roam. When was the last time we completely lost a Switch and Transport?
If you're going to reply when a tornado or quake wiped an entire town off the map, do we really urgently need the CO if there are no customers right now??
The figure I heard was a savings of over a million by reducing pots lines. We still need them in some offices because the cell signal is nonexistent
I don’t think they are getting rid of all pots in the CO, just reducing the amount. Makes business sense, don’t have to pay taxes on a lot of unused lines. We were reduced to 2 lines per medium and smaller offices. CO ET’s have been reduced to skeleton crews so there isn’t a need for 6 -10 lines in the office anymore. Most offices have either one ET or none reporting to them, we don’t use fax machines or have any frame attendants, so the need is much less.
Did someone steal (borrow) the pairs there also ?
Go to the main frame and find a worker….use the CO techs phone….clip one lead on the ring….the other on the tip
cell phones are where its at.
All the phones in MT were removed LOL
Over 4 years ago my building got rid of the PBX, all managers had to use their COUs, and non-management got to use Skype, then migrated to Teams. A few (very few) have actual phones connected to the LAN, served by an IP PBX in Dallas. QOS is bad.
Who would have ever thought that Central Offices would no longer have pots and fx lines! That's progress for you!
COU and TEAMS! That is all you need.
I was told that we would be using Microsoft teams and smartphones as a replacement for office lines.
