Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Has anyone taken advantage of the resource provided to help find a new job?

It looks like this outside company provides resume help etc.? Just wondering if anyone who has recently been surplussed has utilized this resource and if they have found it worthwhile or not?

Once you hit the LHH stage you're on your own. You're a persona non grata to AT&T.

Which means YOU are responsible for your career and job search. You can't expect that any job assistance program is going to get you a new job. They're there to coach you in how to approach the job search but you have to execute the plan to find the new position.

When I was shown the door we were offered LHH services to "help" us in our transition.

While I applaud T for making an effort to assist those that were affected to cover for Stink's incompetence, the reality was that LHH was only of minimal assistance, at least for me. Their job search service was worse than LinkedIn or Google, their virtual job fairs only offered a few minutes of conversation with recruiters, their resume review was cursory, and their career coaches were these young fresh out of college kids who had zero actual experience and therefore were of virtually no help beyond being a cheerleader to help keep up morale.

I ended up finding my next job without any LHH help about three months after getting laid off.

“You will be in a list”
Do you understand these people have already been surplused?

They can get you a job back as a contractor at att for less money. Not only do you lose your unemployment insurance but you’re also paying back half your severance !

It’s a trap. If you do you’ll be on a list of people who should go. There are lots of free resources that aren’t tracked by ATT.

I am using it and they are great! It is up to you as to how much you get out of this free program.

For me, I provided them a copy of my existing resume and they provided me an updated version in a format that I could change as needed.

Highly recommend taking advantage of the program. If you were surplussed and are looking for a job why not use every resource available, esp when it is free?

Use CHATGPT. Run it thru a bunch of times and piece together the parts that look good. Run it thru another time after all the updates.

Thanks. Yes, it is LHH. Looks like it is free for a period of time, so I’ll check it out. Just don’t want to pay for a service.

My resume is way too long and somewhat dated so am working on consolidating it.

Best of luck to all who are job searching.

It really helps to have a second opinion on your resume.

When I was looking for a job last year I got a great tip on how to present my relevant experience from past years without making it look too dated.

If it is Lee Hecht Harrison, I used it years ago in NJ. They were great.
