Have any AIG employees been disciplined for not returning to the office for the 3/4 days per week?
I know we have all been asked to do this, but I dont know anyone who has actually been disciplined for not doing so.
At the moment, 3/4 days seems to be more of a request than a direct instruction.
What gives? Where do we stand?
My manager made his team put RTO as a goal....and at 70% - 80% RTO. It's a crock of sh!t....especially when measuring RTO is not consistent across the company...some go to offices where badge swipes can't be tracked, some just don't go to the office but don't get penalized....some on the team had legitimate hardships but we're not supported or given any reduced RTO accommodation. RTO is merely a mechanism to provide managers with an easy way to grade staff as partially met and then give reduced bonuses or none at all. ....but again, this is not consistently handled across the company. It's really demoralizing.
If they are going to do this, then they better make d@#$ sure our laptops work in the office! After all trouble we went through to get new(er) laptops (in some depth that had been stuck in Wyse), really annoying to get to the office and nothing works. People are about to quit anyway after all that. Now we're forced to go back to non functioning workstations because they think we're more productive in the office? Not going to be any employees left to make them look soon good to their shareholders that they give themselves 5 and 6 figure bonuses but then they can't afford to give us year end merit/bonuses that keep up with cost of living!
5 figures?????? Lolololol.....not for me! Not even close.
Maybe I’m in the minority but personally I am fine going in 3 days a week if it means I get a full STI award. Or maybe I just can’t afford the luxury of passing up on a 5-figure bonus.
I'm so confused then how all the engineering teams that have been a majority all remote in the IT industry can function.
If this RTO is going to be forced then EVERYONE needs to get their a-s in the office.
While I totally love wfh, I understand the need to go to the office 2/3 times per week. I'm a senior and I'm 100% autonomous, but I can understand that new hires need people to interact with at the beginning of the career.
In my branch, we have to go 3 days a week but we have a State law that allows parents with children to do all the WFH they want until this December, so I decided to go just 2 times per week, that is my sweetspot. I hope the law will be extended forever... Many other insurance companies in my country allow 3 days of WFH, and I'm aware that our local branch has many difficoulties in filling new senior roles due to this
AIG Boston now requires that we come into the office for at least two days per week.
CRBG is officially hybrid for all people located at 28 Liberty. It was announced about two weeks ago when the told us about the consolidation onto one floor.
Unless you are waiting for severance and then retire, you should be actively looking to leave the dumpster fire called AIG.
If you just got there and are worried what other employers think after looking to leave in such a short time, if they are good they will value and respect your choice to get out of there
It's my understanding that Corebridge hasn't heard/doesn't know about WFH affecting bonus. It's strictly an AIG thing.
Word is that they are going to start threatening termination if you have an average of 1 or less swipes a week. So the average of 2 will be not meeting goals and affect your STI, average of 1 or less will be insubordination.
I heard they closed the Fort Worth, TX office. What are those folks going to do?
I know for sure that in Europe they are having big issues in hiring new people and retaining what they have due to this strict wfh policy
I'd rather work from home than get a bonus.
What about Corebridge Work from Home. Are they still working 5 days at home?
For a long while NY has maintained a spreadsheet of who hasn't been into the office for a year.
Now they are looking at insisting on 4 days a week in the office for all non-remote workers.
AIG does love to manufacture reasons to cut bonuses.
FYI to everyone, I have concrete evidence that managers are getting emails from upper management with key swipe info and the mgrs are to inform direct reports that they’re to report to their assigned office 2/3 days a week or their performance review plus STI will be impacted. I saw the email sent to a colleague.
If you’re penalized for not going in but otherwise do your job, you should consult an attorney who handles dealing with this issue. AIG did not disclose this as a goal nor have they ever communicated it clearly as a metric. I bet AIG will settle any cases or offer a decent severance in return for not suing them. Glad I left that dumpster fire, IT is on life support.

Is RTO stated as a goal?
So AIG is in deep with Blackrock. Blackrock has substantial investments in commercial office space. Remote work directly and negatively impacts those investments. This is why they fight against it.
Pete and their leadership do not give a fu-k about you, your mental health, work-life balance, or anything. YOU are a replaceable cog, a resource to be burned up and discarded.
As for STI (Short Term Incentive aka Bonuses) goes, Grades 20 and under get garbage while grade 21 started at around $20k and goes up sharply from there. That's a lot to leave on the table, if you can ever get the full amount.

People that make the effort to come into the office on a regular basis should be rewarded over those that don’t. We are heeding the CEO’s directive and not being defiant.

Everyone has not caved.
Plenty of people have gone elsewhere.
Plenty of people come in one or two days or even as needed. The policy has impacted retention and the ability to hire.
Speak for yourself.
The more people stay home the less the office is like a loud cattle pen or trading floor.
Whole thing is still a HR and management nightmare.
Wait for year end reviews which ties to bonuses. That is when you will ‘see’ that they are keeping metrics on everyone. Not coming into the office can also impact promotions. Just go in 3-4 days as Petey asked over a year ago. Many of us are and tired of the excuses that others aren’t coming in.
Most people I know go 1 to 2 days in the office.
Hello AIG employee. I used to work there, he-l I bet we know each other. I never heard of actual disciplinary action being taken on someone, everyone I know they leaned on caved in and returned unless you had a medical exemption. They wont terminate you until its convenient for them, the "infraction" will just be added to your HR file for when they are ready and your manager will use it as justification to cut your bonus. The fact that the CEO Pete Zaffino is THE ONY ONE that can approve the creation of a remote position speaks volumes about that place.
