Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Remember when Follett was a decent job?

It’s been some years since, but I remember when the family actually cared. They were less engaged in the last five years before they sold, though.

She is always the smartest person in the room.

I believe the weenies in the ivory tower and hopefully investors are reading these comments. They need to know the true stories. Will it change anything? Probably not, but if they were smart, they would take some of these comments to heart.
As one of those let go in May, I like hearing from those still in stores. Thank you. It's one thing to speculate what will go wrong, but it is satisfying to hear it is happening.
Over the years I have read these comments as a way to learn what was really going on. The Ivory tower will never tell you the full truth, but there have been leaks. And it was nice to know I was not alone in the daily struggles

The sad commentary is that those who have lost their jobs gripe about how bad Follett has become and the people who read these gripes add more and more negative stories. But who is reading and going to change what has happened or better yet what will create change? I propose these comments somehow get to the workforce looking for a college store job and see how bad Follett has become and either push for a change or not apply.
Weenies in the ivory tower just have miscalculated and are laughing at all our stories. That is the sad story…what changes could be made to save our schools.

You are all right!
JRC's only goal is to show a ROI for their rich investors.
James family will brag.
They don't care about you at all.
They never will.

Definitely were better days. Once upon a time, Follett cared and actually "valued" each and every associate. Everyone would rally to get the job done, no matter how big. Now.. why would you? Why go above and beyond for a company who holds so little value in you. They will drop you without a thought. 30+ years of dedication and hardwork means nothing. Id--ts. The younger generation want more money, better benefits and less work. You will never replace the experience, work ethics and knowledge you let go.

I remember when HO folks KNEW who I was because they asked me to go to this store, this store, and this store. I was part of several projects, store refurbs and new contracts.. visual merchandising and planogram set ups. Every regional manager that my region had would take me out of my store and send me everywhere. Imagine my surprise when I got fired in May. This company does not care who you are or what you bring to the table. They do not care about your experience, they do not care about your relationships with the campus and another stores. They literally got rid of all of the talent and now they're left with mediocrity. I hope this company falls, hard. I don't want people to lose their jobs, but if you stay in a company that is literally failing, you get what you deserve.

It was the best company I ever worked for.... 10+ years ago. Nothing is the same. I remember when execs used to know SM's by name. And they cared. Now we are just disposable numbers.
