Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Thoughts…

I’ve been struggling with this company for over a decade. What has kept me here has always been the people, my teams I’ve worked with over the years and the clients we’ve served. What really makes b-ms me out this evening is not so much the job I’m losing, but the people I’m losing in my life and the clients that will suffer as a result of a corporation that is so disconnected from their clients and employees. I wish I didn’t have such a passion for what I do, it would be so much easier to disconnect myself from it all.

At the end of the day I have to believe that everything happens for a reason and that I will find my place elsewhere.

To all my colleagues that are in this boat with me, I wish you all the best and hope our paths cross down the road.

I wish all of you the best as well. You said it best. It has been such a journey. Started in the late 90's when the company was called EPS (Electronic Payment Systems). I have been through many mergers and name changes and this has truly been the hardest to take. Very sad to see so many who have given their years to a company that did not deserve it when it was all said and done. I will miss the people, the stories and the experiences. Good luck, God bless you all and keep pushing forward!

I had been with Fiserv since the early 2000's, straight out of college, and worked my entire adult life here up until this past spring. I saw it go from suits and ties with no walking on the grass, to a level of flexibility that was really great. It was never perfect, they historically underpaid, cut benefits, etc. But it's become something in the last three or so years that is unrecognizable. It's basically a sweatshop, with a lot of really ignorant decisions being made that hurt not only employees but clients too.

I have to say this as many of you are struggling with your paths forward, what we have all been experiencing is NOT normal. It's hard to really see this until you get out and work somewhere else. I know a lot of people who have left, and not a single one regrets it. They are all happier, better paid, with much more normal work loads and compensation.

Do yourself a favor and invest in yourselves! If you are on the fence thinking about relocating, do NOT do it. Hire a resume company, a career coach, or whatever other resource you need and move on. Go to a bank, a competitor, or find something completely new. You'll be elated you did.
