Let's focus on the Tech layoffs in this thread. I am OK with having consolidated threads with other parts of the org but sometimes discussing more Tech specific topics helps. Maybe this thread helps a bit with basic Q&A on layoffs... Not sure but here it goes anyway.

The IAM layoffs already backfired. IBM can't seem to figure it out so they hired some of those people back as contractors at fractions of their old salaries and no benefits.
We were told by management this morning that taking a lunch break wasn't being a team player and that doing so would put our jobs at risk. "India doesn't take a lunch." was the quote.
All those Psychology Ph.Ds are safe. Right? RIGHT?!?
Tech layoff numbers supposedly aren’t huge, but who knows. I’m not holding my breath that they won’t offshore huge chunks of IT to “lighten the chassis”. 🙄
Learn to code they told me
I have heard there is focus on retaining / outsourcing software engineers and tech delivery resources but to consolidate work streams under GPMs, product managers, owners and SWEDs. There will be RIF of these resources due to consolidations

Some posts here mentioned about IAM team cuts. What I gathered is that this tech area is getting outsourced to IBM with mostly offshoring. These cuts were in July.
Another post mentioned about cuts in Meyer and Bryces org, but haven't seen any more posts about that.
