Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

To John Gibbons

You asked me to relocate from FL to BH to join the infrastructure team. Please tell me if this makes sense?

  1. The median salary in North Florida is $60k. I am almost twice above the median salary.
  1. I am not against RTO , but you closed my closest office in FL.
  1. Moving to BH , I will be below the median salary on day 1 and practically I moved to be poor.
  1. I have to sell my house with a 3% mortgage. With the proceed, I can only afford a condo or half of the size of the home i have here , with a 20k property taxes. I pay $3k in property taxes .
  1. The city living index of BH is much higher that north FL.
  1. Fiserv was all about do the right thing. I don’t feel it anymore.

Would you uproot your family if you were in my case, using my math? This is my 16 years at Fiserv.

Folks have left already. Downtown Milwaukee is a pit.
More will depart.

They want us to leave at a predetermined rate. They just put massive amounts of employees on notice and get to pick and choose how many get let go at any time.

The only way their plan can backfire is if too many employees leave before they are ready. Fiserv may have to pay clients penalty fees for violating SLAs. I hope our clients keep this in mind the next time they need to renew.

This happens when these consolidations occur it’s unfortunate. Everyone has to look at their situation uniquely. Doesn’t sound like a good move for you so find another IT job close by or remote.

That "Lincoln/Omaha" should throw a red flag to anyone contemplating a move to Lincoln from SF or any other location. You think that they'll maintain two campuses 50 miles apart? One of those will be on the chopping block in 12-24 months. Book it.

Common practice. Years ago, an insurance company I worked for moved an entire department to Houston, with grand promises of permanent location, do not worry, move, be happy. All of them moved and ....... you can guess the ending. Houston was a temporary location. Do NOT believe what management says regarding these large scale moves. Generally, management does not move, YOU do.

BH is a failure of FJB and it will reflect on his legacy. You should quit and make sure you claim your unvested stock.

It's hard to say this, and might be wrong, but it does sound like they are trying to push you out of the company.
they have studied the percentages.
