Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

When you reach a certain age - you should just leave.

I work in a corporate area with a few seniors. I mean real seniors, past the 75 golden ages. Though some are more active than others, some refuse to share or help train for fear of losing their position, at least when they are not dozing off. Then we have a few who refuse, yes refuses to take time off. They volunteer to work on holidays leave late even though there is no work to be done. Talk about loneliness, when working is better than doing something for yourself. These people know they are being spoken about and laughed at behind their backs. And the hoot is that the managers take advantage of these guys since they know they will continue to work and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

What a nasty person. Glad I am not working with them. But the one comment I agree with is "managers take advantage of these guys". No one should be taken advantage, but I have seen that if individuals are agreeable to work changes, additional work and supportive of the team some folks see them as stupid, ask kissing or frightened and taken advantage of. They don't see them as assets like some managers do. To "a lazy, I hate others who do more than I am willing to do and make me look bad" they turn it into the situation of being "taking advantage of".

Wow. I cannot believe what I just read. How vile of you. OP, you're going to get old, too, and you may need to still keep working to pay your bills. I agree with another poster that it is commendable Chase doesn't force them out based on age.
Op, have a heart, and a soul.

it sounds like you are incapable of picking things up on your own,
a sure sign of weakness

You are disgusting. And by what you stated, these seniors are out working you and making you look lazy, because you ARE. Their generation has a different work ethic that you can learn from. You made that abundantly clear! Grow up. I can't believe they keep people like YOU!

I think that it is wonderful that Chase takes care of all of their employees—even those in their Golden Years. It would be Age Discrimination to try to fire them. These employees are very devoted to Chase. Their years of service prove that. In other cultures they revere their elders. Not always so here in the US. Hopefully you too will grow old, and hopefully you will have an employer that appreciates you and doesn’t replace you just because of your age.
