Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Changes that do nothing

I'm tired of reorgs and other useless changes that achieve nothing in the end. Why is that happening? Is it the leadership's version of busywork? So they can show they are doing something without actually having to try hard and figure out how to make changes that will help instead of being useless?

Don’t fool yourself… just because you don’t see it happening..behind the scenes the rifs are being orchestrated

Not all parts of fiserv are dumpster fires. Some times the reorgs are trying to bring the good parts to the bad parts. The problem is sometimes it isn’t the processes or people are what need to change. Sometimes the problems are with the products. Until the products somewhat get a stable base then you won’t get anywhere no matter how much you try to change.

Sometimes it is office politics. They are removing a middle manager that is a threat to a higher manager, and/or promoting a loyal subordinate so they can protect the higher manager. Sometimes they are setting up a sacrificial lamb to take the fall for an inevitable future failure. Or they can see the upcoming failure and are moving to a different position so they don't get blamed for it.

It is also a convenient excuse for not hiring or promoting anyone. Those processes take time, so if they switch a manager, they can use the excuse of the person wanting to review everything to restart the process back to the beginning. This allows the company to say that new hires are on the way, without ever having to spend any money on new salary. Or they can keep employees around longer by dangling a promotion in front of them. A promotion that will never be approved.

We can all pretend that this is how a normal company functions.

I am one of those directors that actually do the work. I can’t speak for all of them though.

Meanwhile you have serious backlogs in each department that nothing ever gets done about! Way too many chiefs and not enough Indians……

And what do the Directors even DO besides make a sh!t ton more $ than those doing the work?

They can't spend all of their time reviewing stats and planning/executing cuts. 90% sure. 100% no. Have to try and show stockholders you are being "proactive" in other ways.

Make no mistake, these truly are pointless endeavors just for show. But hey, look at what we are trying! Lofl.

Some people that do actually nothing related to work must somehow justify their presence in the company.
