If I’m on the chopping block next week but I’m on PTO, would they tell me today or wait until I’m back?

Last years big layoff, they called people on pto and people on loa to let them know they'd been eliminated, They called their personal numbers. They are not going to wait to notify you.
Heard that Instructions are to wait till person returns
My experience has been that they will call you on PTO.
I’m on PTO because my 4 year old is having surgery to remove a brain tumor, just trying to figure out if I need to have my phone by my side in case I get the call. Sounds like I do. Thanks for the replies.
It’s CVS they have no problem calling you on PTO.
It makes zero difference since you either get a payout or are paid on PTO.
So probably same day.
Speaking from previous experience- the timeframe from when your managers are informed of who to let go and when they are expected to inform impacted employees is extremely short. Usually same day. If you are impacted and are on PTO when the decision is made, you will be informed upon your return.
I don’t say this to come across as insensitive, just sharing my personal experience and feedback. Do not expect forward notice based on PTO.
If you are on PTO and are chosen to be eliminated, you will get a call on your personal phone. They wont let you know ahead of time. But being PTO won't change your fate.
