5000 only includes FTE. The number of contractors who will be laid off is unknown.

- 0 % refers to only FTEs. What percentage of contractors or "vendors" that will be laid off is unknown.
"Let's do some math and try to take a deep breath.....CVS has 300,000 employees.
5,000 people are going to be let go (and yes, that su-ks).
5,000 people = 1.7% of the overall count.
That means there is AT LEAST a 98.3% that you are NOT going to be let go in the coming days. Take a second and let that sink in."
This is not true. Remember that layoffs are purely targeted at corporate roles. I am not sure what the total corporate head count is. But 5000 as a percentage of corporate roles is exponentially higher than 1.7%.
Everyone keeps focusing on 5000. Dogs everyone miss the word “approximately” 5000. Which could mean 9,999 🤣
Sounds like you've never been through a layoff before. 5,000 is not insignificant for sure but all they were trying to point out below is the "chances" of being laid off are less than what most people are fearing. The other point was that the optics from our leadership has made it that much worse. Everyone deals with hardship and issues differently and it sounds like you have a ton of anxiety about this. Take a deep breath. Assuming you will not be laid off (and again, the chances of you individually being laid off is less than 2%), you probably need to talk to some friends or see a therapist about how to cope with anxiety. Posting on a board with random people who may or may not be CVS employees won't curb your anxiety, it will likely do the opposite. And hoping others get laid off who are coping by looking at the bright side of things and in a healthy way is not cool.
Y’all gotta stop trying to cope with the 5k/300k layoff chances. Vast majority of those are customer facing so your chances are exponentially higher.
Also childish to act like 5000 people losing their job is insignificant. I hope people talking like that get laid off so they can keep whining about sh-t here.
To the person talking about the 300,00 employees. You aren't really paying attention here, are you?
Put it this way, if someone is going to be the person making calls next week to notify people, they are now aware of who/when/how. In most cases those doing the notifications are at the Lead Director or higher level. And yes, their jobs would 100% be at risk if they start giving anyone a heads up.
So, extremely unlikely your Supervisor, Manager, or even your Sr Manager in a lot of cases, know anything yet
I think the Executive VPs know but after Karen's announcement. I don't believe most had a say in who goes and who stays unlike the Aetna Medicaid layoffs of 2020. They're doing mix bag of titles and skills at this round and not so much favoritism.
Aetna Medicaid 2020 layoffs lost a lot of Medicaid experienced personal and hired a bunch of low skilled and inexperienced people to Medicaid. Aetna never really recovered from the 2020s layoffs, and Jen-Gs, Kelly Munson leadership has been the nail in the coffin in the Medicaid sector. Just look at the heartbeat for all the retirements, and the intrims if you don't see it.
@1ddk+1o2TMrm7 - your senior manager is the first on the list to being laid off
Managers don’t know. I was hired and found out about the layoffs in week 3.
My senior manager told me that he does know that his employees will be part of the layoff, that he already knows who. He's known since june. He can't say anything to anyone. He did tell me cryptically that if I had an important job I would be safe. Unfortunately, there's no surety in that so I'm among all of you who are worrying.
Someone asked about Aetna CM is Aetna Case Management. Nurses? Clinicians?
Haven't about 1,700 out of the 5k already been let go?
Management knows. They are just lying to avoid confrontation.
Let's do some math and try to take a deep breath.....CVS has 300,000 employees.
5,000 people are going to be let go (and yes, that su-ks). And this is assuming that all of this count isn't already being chipped away at due to other firings, job postings being pulled, etc.
5,000 people = 1.7% of the overall count.
That means there is AT LEAST a 98.3% that you are NOT going to be let go in the coming days. Take a second and let that sink in.
This organization has done a terrible job with their messaging when nearly all of the 300k employees think they are on the list to be let go when more than 98% will not be.
In a recent meeting with a VP, they confirmed they know some things they can't share. I don't think anyone below them knows anything.
I don't think they know. The hierarchy is very steep. My senior manager hasn't heard anything. He asked his boss (executive director) and he doesn't know either.
Most have been told they’re safe from their managers. If your manager hasn’t nudged you and said “don’t worry, you are safe” then you probably aren’t very safe.
Sr. Manager...I can confirm that we haven't been given any info, neither have any of the other managers in other areas I talk to. I have to assume i'm either on the block or my team is safe so execs don't think I need to know.....which is to say, i'm as clueless as everyone else. Bright side, the extra stress has lost me 5 or 6 lbs already.
What the manager supposed to even say? Hey sorry man, they already told me you're gone, but it doesn't take effect until next week.
Managers don't know.
If managers are at risk, per previous posts, then maybe they don't know
Most managers know nothing.
It's going to be coming from VP level and they have been forced to sign NDAs and can not confirm nor deny if any teams/persons are safe.
This has been disclosed by numerous vps
