Doing my normal checks through LinkedIn this morning and came across several Talent Acquisition folks that changed to having the green banner that says "#OPENTOWORK". Started digging in further and found at least two managers and what looked to be their teams all in the same situation. All of them posted yesterday (Wednesday 8/9) that they had been let go due to their location on Tuesday (8/8).

This round of layoffs was targeted at full-time remote workers (myself included). It was, per my own manager and several others I spoke to, not at all performance based - it was entirely "location" based. Every displaced employee I connected with had been 100% remote.
Honestly, I was not surprised. Pre-Covid, executive leadership made it clear they loathed remote workers, no matter how effective, and wanted the practice ended. Covid stayed that goal for a while, but they want bodies in buildings, for whatever nefarious and stupid reason.
I believe its a good idea, I saw a recruiter that was laid off getting a lot of support from linkedin community and even interview offers!
All seems like noise that would not affect an individual worker's decision to stay/go/prepare one bit. Shades of gray with everything posted online.
Trust your gut, no matter the company or other people's circumstances.
How stupid.. let's just advertise to the world that you were terminated...
I saw a few as well. Looked like recruiters. And at least one mentioned they were laid off b/c of the hub strategy. Like recruiters need to be in a hub. I have never personally met with a recruiter-- always on the phone.
I went out and checked and sure enough, you are right, there are a bunch of TA recruiters out there open to work.
