Lately I think it's noticeable more than usual - people here are generally very grumpy and toxic. It's understandable because we are all stressed out. Does Verizon not value employee happiness?

One thing you should get straight in your head is that NO COMPANY VALUES EMPLOYEE HAPPIENESS. You are 'human capital', no better than beasts of burden. They value your ability to generate more value than you make per hour. You are disposable, replacable and a hinderance in pursuit of profit and shareholder value. This applies to all businesses. Small businesses are no different.
OP seems new to Verizon.
Everyone is out for themselves - everyone is looking at each other with a feeling " It better be him/her than me". everyone is trying to hang on to their jobs at any cost. Most of them are not confident that they will be able to secure as good a job as they have now because majority of them are not qualified and are overpaid for the poistion they hold!
