Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Was asked to relocate today

Apparently Columbus is re-opening. I’m an astronaut near Cleveland. was asked to relocate to Lincoln. Pay bump and relocation assistance with a 2 year retention bonus.

No. Just no. I’m pretty entrenched here. Resume is up to date.
New guys will have to pick up the slack. And they don’t know anything.
I’ll work remote until they say I can’t. .

Nothing about Fiserv is worth relocating your family for period. You're far better off taking your knowledge to a place that values you. Fiserv does not. It might be a hard transition financially and logistically, but it is worth it in the end. Many of my old co workers with 15+ years of experience have left and they've all said it was like a breath of fresh air going to a company that actually respects and treats them like adults and values their knowledge. We are not McDonalds employees no matter what upper management likes to compare us to.

I'm just biding my time until the Brookfield location change to downtown Milwaukee and then going to bail. Fiserv is no way a company that pays proper wages for working in downtown Milwaukee (not that it's a big city, but still, comparable jobs downtown atleast 25k more than my salary) No thanks, I'll take my 15+ years elsewhere.

So its not just mortgage being forced to relocate to nowhere. Sure Lincoln may be a nice place, but its also a place nearly nobody wants to move to, unless forced. Nope

I lived and worked in Lincoln for close to four years. Nice town to raise a family, but really lacking in anything fun to do. Restaurants pale in comparison to big brother, Omaha(45 minutes away). As someone mentioned, cost of living would probably make your paycheck go further. Odd road system. For a mid-size city, it takes you at least 30 minutes to drive from the South to the North side of the city - owing to the lack of a freeway running that way(lots of stoplights).

That being said, Fiserv isn't a nice place to work, and Lincoln is a terrible location.

I love how our great leader Kim Jung Bisagnano seems to think everyone is willing to uproot their families and move across the country just to keep working here.

That's because he actually doesn't want you to move. He wants you to quit. So yeah, drag it out as long as possible to milk every last dollar from this company. They don't give a rats a-s about us, why should we care about the company?

Did they give you a relocate by date? If you want to really have fun then tell them you'll do it but a week or two prior to the date inform them of your change of heart. Lol. They'd do the same to you with zero qualms. Might as well play by their rules.

Smart move! Don’t move your life. The moment you move, you will be laid off. Banking at Fiserv is dead, especially ECM! I won’t do it. Push this till the end, get your severance and go consult for your clients.

I am sick of hearing about tax credits. The loss of knowledge has a huge cost!

Stay put. You’re making the right decision. Work remote until they shut you off. You’ll find something in Cleveland.

OP here. Surprisingly, the cost of living where I am is less than what Lincoln is.

Yeah while it may sound enticing you can’t really trust them. If you have a family/kids it’s not worth the risk. I know several people that relocated to BH only to be laid off shortly after uprooting their entire lives.

Actually Lincoln is the 73rd largest city in the US, with about 300,000 people.

Lincoln is a very nice town. Pay would also go a lot farther in Lincoln than in Cleveland.
