Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

To give two weeks' notice or not

Is there anything they can do if I don't? They certainly can't fire me, so what's left?

Keep your integrity intact even though Fiserv has none.

I had reached the end of my rope and quit, "effective immediately. " Although I have no desire to return, I verified that I am eligible for rehire.

Two weeks if you think you might ever want to be rehired….I gave three and regretted it. Two was long enough there. I only did 3 because my team was struggling and they were great. So glad I took a leap of faith and am working at a great place with the best CEO. Unbelievable difference.

As angry and motivated as you may be, don't let it stop you from observing the business etiquette of two-weeks. It's not that you'll likely ever try to come back to Fiserv...but as big as the company is, the industry is much smaller than you think. And people move around. Walking out immediately doesn't tell FB anything, but definitely impacts you team and immediate managers...who may be in other companies too someday!

The only time I have ever left without going the full 2 weeks was with a job that I really hated, and my employer was trying the sh#t-can my transfer to another dept. there. I already had a job offer from another firm, so I just went in, put my badge on my manager's desk, and said, "This is my last day."

Walk the high road and give a two-week notice. If your main beef isn't with your co-workers or your boss, why hose them by not transferring knowledge? Even if you don't like your co-workers, it's just not cool. Be the better person.

Now, that said, I've got no problem drawing a hard line at 40 hours/week as your time there winds down.

I know someone who worked out a longer notice with their boss, which enabled them to train folks and take some PTO, which stretched their quitting day into the next month to get the bennies for that entire month. KT done. Bennies handled until the new ones started. Conscience clear.

For those under the unlimited PTO "benefit", take time before giving notice.

This industry is very small. Always lead and leave with integrity...

I gave 2 weeks and then WFH. At that point I didn't care about badge scans.

The thought of giving a 2-weeks and then being bothered with trying to teach other people how to do my job... not worth the stress imo.

Also would be satisfying to see panic from coworkers who are all making 2x or more of my salary anyway.

Give them two weeks but maybe take some PTO. Check your state to see if they pay out. I was stupid, didn’t take the PTO, thinking they’d pay out and they didn’t.

Tell them you are going to retire( if u are old enough), they will give you $1k worth of Living Proof points(which you can get Amazon gift cards or whatever).

I would give two weeks at least. Seems to be hit and miss on whether you work two weeks or not. I've seen people give notice and shown the door immediately and get paid the two weeks. Depends on how paranoid they are I guess.

Fiserv doesn't give info to potential employers. They use Theworknumber.com for verification of employment. Also, new employers only do background/credit checks. They don't care about why you left your previous job.

A potential employer after your next employer might call Fiserv since it is on your resume and ask if you are available for re-hire at Fiserv. Fiserv will say "no" and the potential future employer might decline to offer you a position.

So Fiserv won't do anything, but it might have a negative effect on you.

They will most likely put you on the "don't rehire" list - but honestly, if you don't live in BH or India, your chances of getting rehired is essentially nil anyway.

They don't care if you quit. 2 weeks is considerate but keeping a Lame Duck employee carries risks. So, nothing will happen if you don't give 2 weeks.
