Any idea what is going on in the Pharmacy group. It seems chaotic with medication reviews. Was it really just this poorly planned?

The leadership managing the med review department are all Pharmacists (all the way up to SG) with the exception of a few Pharm techs supervising. The strategy team guiding? Also Pharmacists. The handful of leaders you see from HAH sitting in the CWP org have zero to do with with the med review team and more to do with efforts to drive mail order growth.

What does that have to do with Humana Pharmacy?
I have heard the moving of former Humana at home associates referred to as “pass the trash “. They are sub standard performers that for some reason get promoted and transferred at will. It’s absolutely ridiculous!!
Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM’s) make a significant amount of money by the rebates they get back through the dr-g manufacturers. The more members that you’re filling prescriptions for the bigger your rebates. In the PBM world, size matters. Humana just offloaded its own employees to United Healthcare’s PBM (OptumRx). Not only does that speak for itself, it represents a decrease in script volume. Connect the dots..first the Commercial business…soon to be next the PBM business. With Humana’s appetite for contracting work out, watch for the PBM business to be contracted back out to one of the big 3 just like it was prior to 2007.

I wish I knew the answer. I am not sure who is piloting this boat, but it is sinking.
