Mass Layoffs today at Waters Corp. ahead of earnings announcement in a few weeks, unsure of the total number of people impacted. CEO sent a message early this morning with a picture of him smiling ear to ear accompanying the message.

People are forgetting the six process chemists in column manufacturing also. Atleast two have no concept of what they are actually ment to do. Any given day two are on the floor with the rest doing god knows what.
And of course they only work days. If none are needed on nights why would six be needed on days ?
I love the moss wall. It’s deadly.
Management are the weakest point of this company. That’s the reality and should be evaluated on their ability to manage their department. Give redundancy to the long term guys and bring in fresh managers with experience and knowledge from outside the company. All the supervisors/mangers and team leads in Column Manufacturing can be demoted and find someone who knows how to supervise in a manufacturing plant. We might stand a chance of surviving these demands from upper management. Out with the old/fake supervisors and bring in, knowledge, management and true leadership with experience to back them up.
Dead wood don’t grow.
While hard working people lost their jobs, a department who got $6 mill from UDIT recently hung up their moss wall for aesthetic purposes. An entire department made up of R&D operators who walk around all day doing the bare minimum if anything. Still waiting on management to come out of their burrows and acknowledge the changes and layoffs but no such luck. Too busy up charging their subsidised canteen, increasing workloads onto people without any support or changes to manage it. Do more, pay less, complain and you’re next to go. All to please the boss with €1 million plus pay check. If we had a union, the place would close their doors with how badly it’s ran. Modern day sweatshop with the frills of free medical insurance.
Following the layoffs, major changes been made in Wexford. One “manager” has been removed from her role in columns and moved to another “manager role” with the “job” of saving 400,000 by end of december or see 10 operators lose their job in one department.
Easiest way to save money would be to return to 1 manager and 2 supervisors and get rid of these so called supervisors who quite frankly don’t have a clue what they’re doing. Demote the extra 2 team leaders, the 4 supervisors who aren’t qualified to supervise themselves. Morale would go up, toxic leadership would be removed and the department might actually work rather than sit around the office with the door closed, gossiping in their clicks. The right move was to remove the toxic manager, now follow it up with getting rid of the rest of them.
Useless job titles for useless “leaders”. 400K will be saved in a matter of weeks rather than months.
In the meantime, avoid this place with the sinking ship it is. Anyone with common sense will be leaving ASAP.
Kevin should have cut them all out.

Ireland limits its r&d tax credit to those actually doing r&d.for years waters has been fiddling the books where this is concerned.using students and pointless projects to claim credits.now that's gone they pulled the plug on the 6 million deal with the ida.they are here for tax reasons and they will go for tax reasons.thats the reality.
Attempts at organic growth with targets agreed between workers and management in wexford plant are futile.we the management do not believe bonus payments for reaching targets will benefit the company and only lead us down the road of unions and more demands in the future
2022 earnings - As President and Chief Executive Officer at WATERS CORP, Udit Batra Ph.D. made $9,409,550 in total compensation. Of this total $1,038,472 was received as a salary, $2,056,778 was received as a bonus, $3,249,907 was received in stock options, $3,044,893 was awarded as stock and $19,500 came from other types of compensation. (hope all those who lost their job and livlihoods here in Wexford read this )
Udit decides heads must go to get share price up to line his pocket, a picture of him smiling on email notifying staff , Wexford received IDA funding only 9 mths ago for their expansion , 20 jobs promised , instead 10 now gone
Kind of sad when Udit the CEO spent 80k on a cricket court in near the softball field for his executive team then weeks later layoffs off 480 people world wide. The leadership was so much better under the watch of Doug Berthiaume.
Of the many many supervisors in column manufacturing they recently hired supervisors and team leaders for the boxing area. There is approximately 10 people who work in the area and the supervisors work isn't enough for a part time job nevermind a full-time position, but it the production workers who will be made redundant.
Column manufacturing the only place where 1 manager leaves and gets replaced by 2 managers to do the job of 1 person. One manager for each shift but the managers only work days, so on days the 2 managers are in work with 1 shift and no managers on the evening shift.
The WBJ article claiming 30 day notice in other parts of the global company is absolutely untrue. Believe me: I’m one of them.
Correct me if I'm wrong a previous post mentions "minimising exposure to ireland and singapore" which means they are the ones to take the fall for the CFO'S strategy.while managers hide away in their borrows here in Ireland they would do well to remember the harm they are doing themselves the company ,employees and customers.they should start treating employees like adults and be adults.treat people like you would like to be treated.some customers will find it distasteful to see employees mistreated the way they are.employees are currently building up a large inventory to make it a smooth transition for customers.managers etc would do well to start appreciating who's doing this work.
A previous post mentions "minimising exposure to ireland and singapore"does this mean Ireland and singapore will be the fall guys for the cfo's strategy.here in wexford Ireland, we have managers hiding away in their burrows.this is not helpful to the company, its employees and customers.treat workers like adults, treat them like you would like to be treated.customers will show their distaste with their feet when they see workers mistreated and lied too.a large inventory is currently being produced to insure a smooth transition for customers.managers would do well to be mindful how they handle a situation like this,it will effect your own personal careers because you rely on us workers to produce that inventory.
It’s about time to question the credentials of the CFO of WAT.
One doesn’t need an IQ of 172 to figure out he’s screwing up the fundamentals of the company.
Wrong capital allocation is a major issue. He has terminated stock buyback programs and has invested in M&As that are dubious. He has approved paying $1.4B to a company that has generated top line of < $200M. (Was there any corruption? Quid pro quo’s)
His tax plans are mediocre and he’s mulling to manufacture in China (Partially combined with biased view of CEO). He’s minimising the exposure to Ireland and Singapore which will backfire WAT in a big way.
The whole executive team is sick, self centric psychopaths… The world is unjust but uBondapak survived 60 years!

I can’t believe they sent an email about layoffs with that photo of Udit, cheerful as can be. No tact whatsoever.

Disgusted with how Waters treated their employees. Absolutely cold, inhumane and complete lack of respect. Meanwhile the executive team will continue to spend lavishly as they have all year while laying off it's employees to support their lifestyle. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be freed of the this environment as life is much too short.
Colonel Cargill (Catch 22, Joseph Heller) was so awful at marketing that his services were much sought after by firms eager to establish losses for tax purposes. His prices were high, for failure often did not come easily. He had to start at the top and work his way down, and with sympathetic friends in Washington, losing money was no simple matter. It took months of hard work and careful misplanning. A person misplaced, disorganized, miscalculated, overlooked everything and open every loophole, and just when he thought he had it made, the government gave him a lake or a forest or an oilfield and spoiled everything. Even with such handicaps, Colonel Cargill could be relied on to run the most prosperous enterprise into the ground. He was a self-made man who owed his lack of success to nobody.
It is no coincidence that WAT has a handful of Col. Cargill’s at the top who actually would have made the original Col. Cargill run for his money. Yet, Col. Cargill was a good man, a million times.
Easily the worst experience I've had at a company. Leadership is incompetent, environment is extremely toxic, you will not be rewarded for hard work or loyalty.
I'm glad to be moving on
I landed to this website via shared link to this thread, and it took me a while until I realized there is a whole section dedicated to Waters with a bunch of other threads. I'm probably the only one having trouble to see the obvious, but just in case there is someone else like me, here is the link to it: https://www.thelayoff.com/waters or /waters.
Also, there is a large "ACTIVE" button right above the first thread there which you can use to see what posts had recent replies.
That's all from me. Good luck all.
Email following Udit's said that there would be 32 redundant within the Micromass UK.
Please share this forum with current & former Waters employees. Speaking for myself, I've found it both; informative and helpful in processing these actions. Whatever they call it: layoff, work force reduction, reorganization, merger or Furlough it is a most unpleasant experience.
Unbelievable lack of communication in wex. No leadership from the top whatsoever, people with mortgages and children lost their jobs last week and the coldness+clinical nature of it was shocking. The plant is awash with rumours of more losses to come but the management expect us to attend the annual BBQ on Friday and genuflect with thanks for the free burger and 3 pints they've bestowed on us.Told to smile and act as if nothing is going on, not one scrap of communication or assurance from these people.for people like myself who have put in over 20 years Waters in Wexford has become a toxic environment and it comes from the top.The only way up the ladder here is for snakes and backstabbers and that's evident from their behaviour in the past week.Shut up and do your work and be glad you have a job, that's the mantra here.
Lack of information in Wex is shocking.Site "Leader"is a faceless bean counter who has no communication skills.Hasnt even the decency to face workers,a lot of whom have been there a long time.a good worker let go last week while absolute wasters kept on because they've been made permanent. Disgraceful situation and totally mishandled by Wex "leadership as usual.Clueless and totally out of touch with workers.
There will be more.at least 50 per plant because of WARN.if you hit 40 _50 this time round you should be safe enough otherwise expect a few more.
Here is the summary of the website's content rules listed in the footer (not my post, I’ve just copied it from one of the older threads here):
- no names (employees and middle managers aren't public figures so naming them is not allowed; it's ok to name c-suits)
- no doxxing/ posting someone's personal info of any kind (regardless of one’s position)
- no foul language
- no personal insults
- no threats & violence, trolling, bullying, slandering
- no politics/religion/race/ethnicity talk
“Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
The warn act only comes into effect if there is more than 50 laid off in a plant.workers are entitled to 60 days notice and retraining if the number let go is over 50.waters intentionally avoid the warn act keeping the numbers let go below 50 in each plant.
In the states, the company takes the necessary steps to avoid the WARN Act, which would make layoffs public knowledge. That’s why forums like these are important.
hard to fathom how a company would keep someone who doesn't want to be there ahead of enthusiastic young people. Penny pinching only costs more in the long run.
Maybe hard decisions need to be made sometimes but the lack of emphaty is shocking in Wexford, they knew in advance because those been laid off were already identified to be actioned once the mail was sent, yet Liam Ho-e and management have been silent all week. It's basic decentcy to send a mail to the site in follow up to say people will be informed and when complete we will discuss directly with areas. Should have also walked to areas to own it but all hide for the week. Shocking site leader, glorified receptionist leading HR. Toxic atmosphere on site, low moral that's been building now for 3-4 years when good people started to leave and what's replaced has led the site to this, more will follow to, with employment high going to hit people hard
Saying in the press they gave employees 30 day notice in ireland.bullsh-t,one bollix lifted a young guy from his lunch to bring him upstairs to be let go.even had the neck to ask him if he wanted to see out the day.
I be happy as a pig in sh-t to get laid off🤣
Heard from a friend in the business that some customers are backing out of deals with Waters due to the company direction and how it treats its employees.
I really fu----g hope that’s true.
Saw someone posting about "Anti-competition concerns raised by APAC employee last year...". Which manager was involved?
Sadly I’m gone, along with 3 close colleagues. My boss is protected while we’ve been propping him up for the last 18 months. He’s in the clique and we get thrown under the bus. Really horrible time for myself and my family.
