Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

RTO and 30 Miles of Office

Has anyone been communicated that only people who live within 30 Miles of a Truist Office location are expected to RTO even if offer letter said remote? So basically, if you are outside of 30 miles and your offer letter says remote then you can still be remote.

Also, does anyone know if by 30 miles they consider that roundtrip or one-way?

I got su-ked into this nonsense. None of my team in in Charlotte. I go in, and nobody even talks. I do say hello and introduce myself. Shouldn’t “leaders” lead and bring us together?

Also, why they heck do you all dress so nice? It’s not 1996 stop wearing a sport coat to the office dorks.

They want you to quit so they don't have to lay you off. This is a tactic for doing that.

"The return to office is partially driven by local Charlotte businesses complaining to city officials that there are not enough office workers to support their businesses..."

Sounds to me like the business owners need to do a better job of adapting to the changing business environment, instead of demanding that customers be forced to travel to their locations and buy from them.

Or perhaps they learned business management by attending the Truist Leadership Institute at The Kelly S. King Center . . .

"Managers who have a set"
Haha, pretty sure there is no such thing at Truist!

Whatever you do, don’t support any local businesses by the office, pack your lunch.

Managers who have a set can push for you staying remote especially if your team is scattered about. Sitting in an office having Teams meetings makes no sense. Unfortunately for you “Teammates” all the managers with a set were either rifd or retired and there’s only bobble heads who repeat the nonsense from above and have zero skills of their own. Enjoy that synergy in the office with people who can’t help you with anything except distractions.

My guess is that if you’re hybrid and your card hasn’t been swiped eventually they’ll catch up with u

Dontae is the type of corporate person they like, dont ask any questions and mindlessly obey. The use case of past 3 years has shown people not only produce, but produce even better without a RTO construct.

I can’t help but wonder if managers have more flexibility than we think . For example they put you in as hybrid and say you still only have to come one day . Would Truist turn a blind eye to it depending on who and what group . If it’s about RIF ?

By “bright idea” were you being sarcastic? Because the folks who live >30 miles of a hub location (e.g. Atlanta/Charlotte) can apparently remain remote. Makes no sense, a 30 mile drive in a metropolitan location is easily 1-hour minimum in drive alone, and that doesnt count the time it takes to find parking, walk and be seated!

We were told the same thing today, that 30 miles is the strict cutoff. If you had the bright idea of moving outside 30 mile radius, that won't count. Obviously Care is their favorite Virtue Signal, but doesn't come into play when you just got ranked low by the Fed in your Tier 1 capital ratio. How else are you going to pay for the Execs 30% increase approved by the board in March? Gotta get those butts in seats so we can keep the tax incentives.
